While the newest charming fishing game, Dredge, has plenty of tasks to complete, one of the most tedious can be completing the quests for the hooded figures. There are four of them in total, and each will require the player to collect three different fish, one at a time, and return them to the hooded figure.

The Figure in Violet, also known as the Figure in Purple, will be found on a small island between Twisted Strand and Stellar Basin at coordinate E10. Upon approaching them, they will provide a scroll indicating the first fish to be found. After finding each fish, return it to the hooded figure, and the next scroll will be provided until all three are caught.

Fish Locations For Figure In Violet Side Quest

Map indicating the location of the Figure in Violet in Dredge

The Figure in Violet, whose location is shown above, will request the following three fish of the player: Tarpon, Horseshoe Crab, and Barreleye. Each of these has to be caught and returned one at a time during specific times of day, similar to fishing in Animal Crossing, to complete the quest. It's important to note that this is one of the few timed quests in Dredge, so if the fish are not brought to the hooded figure promptly, the hooded figure will die, and the quest will not be able to be re-started. So it's best not to begin any of the hooded figure quests until the player has time to designate to finish them right away. All locations of the fish required for the Figure in Violet are shown below.

Figure In Violet Side Quest Rewards

Approaching the Figure in Violet in a Dredge side quest

After collecting the last fish and returning it to the Figure in Violet, the player will be rewarded with a book. The book, Pushing The Limits: Engines will raise the Engine's Speed by 7.5%. As noted above, however, if the entire quest is not completed in time, then the Figure in Violet will wither away. If that happens, the quest will still get marked as being completed without receiving the reward, so ensure there is enough time to focus on completing it. Also, the timer for the quest will begin only after initially talking to the hooded figure, so do not engage with the other three before finishing the one currently being worked on.

Many side-quests in games can feel unnecessary, but the hooded figure quests in Dredge can definitely offer some great rewards. Additionally, even though Dredge does not alert that the hooded figure quests are being timed, there is still plenty of time to complete the investigation as long as there is no wandering between catches. Therefore, whenever players decide to complete these quests and in what order is up to them, it is often recommended to tackle them very early on or wait until the end of the game. Regardless of whether the quest is completed properly or not, the Figure in Violet quest will be one Dredge players can cross off their to-do list.
