One of the new pocket monsters introduced in Generation IX of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Varoom, a Steel- and Poison-type Single-Cyl Pokémon that evolves into Revavroom after reaching a specific level. Besides its unique engine-like appearance, Varoom's stats are nothing special, offering satisfactory base Attack and Defense suitable for the early to midgame portions of one's playthrough. On the other hand, Revavroom's base stats are superb, with a high Attack that enables it to attain a spot in the top-10 tier lists for multiple community members. However, the journey to evolving Varoom into Revavroom in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is more or less a dull one.

Unlike Petilil, which requires a Sun Stone to evolve into Lilligant in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Varoom requires no evolution items or special conditions but evolves into Revavroom once it reaches Level 40. Therefore, those who manage to find a Varoom at a relatively high level might have an easier time attaining this level requirement. On the other hand, Trainers who caught this Single-Cyl Pokémon at around Level 21 will need to burn through several EXP Candies for the evolution to occur.

How To Catch Varoom in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Giving Varoom a Rare Candy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

For those unfamiliar with where Varoom can be found, the Steel- and Poison-type Single-Cyl Pokémon inhabits the plateau fields near Porto Marinada, north of the Asado Desert within the West Province (Area Two). Additionally, Quick Tips suggests Varoom can spawn in the general zone of the East Province (Area Three), north of the city of Levincia. Varooms often travel in packs, and sometimes a leading Revavroom is present, guiding the group. When attempting to weaken Varoom via battling in Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, Trainers are advised not to use Poison-, Grass-, Fairy, or Bug-type Movesets, as it displays high resistance to these elements. Conversely, Fire- and Ground-type Moves will bring down the Single-Cyl Pokémon with ease. Numel or its evolution Camerupt would make excellent combatants against Varoom.

When catching Varoom in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers also have a chance to acquire Varoom Fume, a material used for crafting Technical Machines. According to Game8, the TMs include Flash Cannon and Gunk Shot, both of which require Varoom Fume ×3 in their recipes. Flash Cannon is a Steel-type Move that deals damage and can potentially reduce an opponent's Special Defense. Gunk Shot is a Poison-type attack that deals substantial damage while potentially poisoning an enemy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Due to their RNG-based status infliction, such Moves would generally be less than optimal, but their high damage output makes them viable for some situations. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Varoom and Revavroom can learn both Moves.
