Evolving Fomantis into a Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will require players to reach a certain level during the daytime. In the Pokémon franchise, there have always been several methods to evolve Pokémon. While most will do so naturally upon reaching a certain level, others require special items, such as Evolution Stones. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, certain evolutions also require players to level up during a certain time of day, and some Pokémon can even evolve into different forms depending on whether they gain the required level during daytime or nighttime.

An example of this in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Eevee, which has two evolutions that depend on the time of day. If an Eevee evolves during the day, it will transform into an Espeon, but if it happens during the night, it will evolve into an Umbreon. Triggering this evolution will require Pokémon to reach certain levels, which depend highly on the Pokémon and its number of evolutions. Gaining levels can be achieved in many ways, such as fighting wild Pokémon, battling other trainers, participating in raids, or using experience-boosting items, such as Exp. Candy or Lucky Eggs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Evolving Fomantis Into Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet location of Fomantis

Fomantis and Lurantis are both grass-types, making them strong against Ground-, Rock- and Water-type Pokémon and weak against Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, Ice- and Poison-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. According to the Youtube channel Joe Hammer Gaming, to achieve this evolution in the game, players will first need to reach level 34 during the daytime. If players reach level 34 with a Fomantis during the nighttime, they will need to gain another level and make sure it happens during the day. If players wish to keep the Fomantis but want to have it at a high level, they can avoid evolving it by leveling it up only at nighttime.

Although it is sometimes wise to wait before evolving in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as a Pokémon's original form may have access to moves not available to their evolved form, doing so is generally a good idea. This is because an evolved Pokémon will often have much better stats and the ability to learn new and powerful moves. Players can find Fomantis around the region shown on the map above and can even find its evolution, Lurantis, out in the wild in the higher-level areas of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
