A common Pokémon found in the Northern Province of Area 1, or Glaseado Mountain within Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's vast open world, Cetoddle is an Ice-type with a staggering amount of health compared to other pocket monsters found in the game. Cetoddle's evolved form, Cetitan, takes this advantage even further with an HP statistic that rivals even the bulkiest Pokémon in the game, such as Blissey or the iconic Snorlax. Players that want this upgrade in defense for their team of battling creatures have the opportunity to use a rare item to evolve Cetoddle from their base form into the hulking beast Cetitan for better coverage in the tougher battles to come.

Cetoddle evolves into Cetitan through the use of an Ice Stone, which can be found in the Poké Ball item capsules surrounding Glaseado Mountain. Unfortunately, only one Ice Stone exists through this area, located north of the Dalizapa Pokémon Center on top of a pointed rock within the nearby cave system. There are three Pokémon in total within this Generation that can evolve with an Ice Stone, including Crabrawler into Crabominable or the iconic Eevee in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet into an elegant Glaceon. Unfortunately, players do not have any other method to discover an Ice Stone in the open world, so they should consider if the evolution from Cetoddle into Cetitan aligns with their expectations.

Which Item Evolves Cetoddle into Cetitan in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Cetoddle Near Glaseado Mountain in Paldea Region

While players are deciding whether they should use the Ice Stone available in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet on Cetoddle, the Abilities of the Ice-type certainly help to influence that decision. Out of two possible Abilities found when capturing Cetoddle, Thick Fat reduces damage taken by both Ice-and Fire-type moves by 50%, making a usual weakness of Ice-types not as prevalent on Cetoddle and Cetitan. Although Fighting-types like a rival's potential Quaquavel in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet still pose a significant risk to any Ice-type, this possible coverage against Fire-types gives players more room to use Cetoddle in battles that would otherwise be more dangerous.

The other Ability Cetoddle might have is Snow Veil, which increases their evasion chances in the snow. Moves like Hail set up this condition and can be taught to either Cetoddle or Cetitan through a Technical Machine (TM). With the incredible bulk this Pokémon has the potential to have through evolution, increasing Speed and Evasion make it extremely hard to take down during a battle. Furthermore, Cetitan gains the Ability Slush Rush in place of Snow Veil when evolved, doubling speed in a hailstorm rather than evasion. These boosts to a normally weak stat encourage players to use the Ice Stone to evolve Cetoddle into Cetitan, giving them a physical powerhouse that rivals even staples of the series, such as Gible's evolution in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
