Pokémon GO and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can now connect the two games after a recent update. Although players cannot transfer Pokémon between the games, they can send Postcards to help catch a special Pokémon in Pokémon GO.

The connection between Pokémon GO and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is meant to help players catch the Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Players can catch Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet while it is in its chest form. Players may see its Roaming Form in the wild, but they will be unable to catch it. The only place to catch a Roaming Form Gimmighoul requires players to connect their two games and send Postcards.

Once a player's Pokémon GO account and copy of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are connected, they can send a Postcard. Postcards originate from the Postcard Book, an item letting players send their friends Postcards in Pokémon GO. Poké Daxi on YouTube explains the Postcard Book in more detail. Players can pick a Postcard from there and send it to their Pokémon Scarlet and Violet account once a day. To receive the Postcard, players should access the Mystery Gift menu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and choose to Connect to Pokémon GO again.

Sending a Postcard allows players in Pokémon GO to use a Coin Bag. Once per day, the Coin Bag can lure a Roaming Form Gimmighoul to the player's location so they can catch it. If players send multiple Postcards, they can get Golden Lure Modules, which turn nearby Poké Stops into Golden Poké Stops to attract Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Players can collect Gimmighoul Coins to evolve it into Gholdengo. Additionally, by connecting a player's Pokémon GO account to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can catch a Pokémon form currently unavailable in the latter game.
