Changing Jobs in Harvestella is a common activity that players will be doing quite frequently over the course of their adventure. Of course, there will be specific jobs that fans enjoy more than others, but the combat mechanics of enemy mobs encourage adventurers to switch between jobs often. For instance, players start as a Fighter, but they will eventually reach a point in the story when they encounter a Crawler, a monster with tough skin that can resist physical attacks. However, Crawlers are weak to Ice abilities, elemental attacks that the Mage Job can perform. Therefore, changing from a Fighter to the Mage Job becomes necessary for progression in Harvestella.
To change one's Job in Harvestella, players must open the pause menu and select the Party, which can be found between "Valuables" and "Job." Of course, many fans might assume that the Job tab would be the section where they perform this action, but this is not the case. After entering Party, players can view their Protagonist character. Scroll down to "Select Job/Equipment" and choose one of the tabs. This action will open a window listing all the Jobs currently available.
Changing Combat Jobs in Harvestella
After players choose which Jobs to equip to their character in Harvestella, they can freely change between the equipped Jobs whenever they are standing near a Motus Monolite, the fast travel/save POIs in the world. Now when adventurers enter combat, they will be able to swap between the Jobs they have equipped from the Party menu. However, Gamepur states that cooldown will trigger once combatants have switched their Job during battle. This limitation is naturally in place to keep players from constantly changing abilities to spam Job Skill attacks in Harvestella.
Harvestella players can reduce this Job-change cooldown for each Job by unlocking a specific Skill known as Shorten Job Change Cooldown. For instance, if adventurers want to reduce the time needed to swap between the Mage and other Jobs, they can spend their JP (Job Points) to unlock Shorten Job Change Cooldown (Mage). For newcomers, it is important to note that Job changing will not become available until they have reached the Unicorn miniboss battle in Higan Canyon. Once defeated, this beast will teach players how to use magic, enabling them to equip the Mage job and slay the Crawler they encountered earlier. Furthermore, additional Jobs can be unlocked by progressing through the main story and increasing the Closeness relationship stat with the Protagonist's companions in Harvestella.
