Although it is set 16 years after the events of the base game’s story, Resident Evil Villages Shadows of Rose DLC culminates in the same final boss fight against Mother Miranda. The player returns to Resident Evil Village as Rose, Ethan Winters’ daughter, as she ventures through Castle Dimitrescu just as her father did. Unfortunately, while players might be relieved by a second Mother Miranda fight, it’s not the saving grace it may appear to be; this time around, she moves faster and hits harder. As a result, defeating her the second time will require concentration, preparation, and patience.

Traversing the rest of the DLC will unlock the full extent of Rose’s powers in Resident Evil Village's new DLC, used during the final boss battle. These new abilities, including absorbing incoming projectiles, using them for energy, and firing a massive Megamycete power attack, make getting through the last fight possible. Players must be able to balance dealing damage to Miranda, use the dodge ability where necessary, and fill up the power meter enough to take her down.

How To Defeat Mother Miranda in Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose

Megamycete attack Shadows of Rose Mother Miranda

During the first part of the fight, there are three basic attacks that Mother Miranda utilizes. The first two attacks include a spin attack and a projectile that will hover above her before turning yellow and traveling toward Rose. The final attack is a telegraphed swoop toward the player, where the unique dodge ability can come in quite handy. This is part of how patience and planning can ease the heightened difficulty in the Resident Evil Village DLC’s last boss fight. While dodging, players should continue to use the heavy power attack until Miranda goes down, at which point shooting at her is the best option.

At this point, the arena will go very dark, and Mother Miranda will start diving into the ground to damage Rose. Continuing to dodge throughout this section is an effective strategy for survival. The fight will continue the pattern until it shifts into phase two, at which point projectiles will start to fire toward the player. This is where the ability to absorb projectiles becomes vital to defeating the final boss; absorbing Miranda’s yellow mold attacks at the last moment will charge up the Megamycete meter and make the bigger mold attack available again. Stunning Mother Miranda with this attack will allow Rose to unload bullets into her.

In addition to the Resident Evil Village DLC’s other gruesome horrors, the DLC also elects to make the final boss fight even more difficult by occasionally obscuring the player’s vision with mold. As a result, Rose must continue dodging Mother Miranda’s attacks to the best of their ability and using the powerful Megamycete attack to stun her. Eventually, the fight will move into the final stage, which will be a little visually intimidating; however, it simply triggers a cutscene, during which Rose will be injured and have to craft first aid. After the cutscene, there will be an opportunity to use the fully charged Megamycete attack one last time; the player must follow it up with another standard power hit. This will signal the last of the Shadows of Rose DLC’s new content.

Using these steps to counter Mother Miranda in Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose is how players can defeat the final boss and finish the DLC.

Resident Evil Village follows up the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, again putting players into the first-person perspective of Ethan Winters. Under protection by Chris Redfield and his team, Ethan, his wife Mia, and their newborn daughter Rose, have been relocated to Europe to start a new life. During this time, Chris and his team have been monitoring the family due to the events in Dulvey, Louisiana. After Chris and his team inexplicably attack their home, Mia is presumed dead, Rose is missing, and Ethan finds himself in a mysterious village. After being attacked by mysterious werewolf-like creatures, Ethan sets off to the Village to save his daughter by facing off with a new mysterious cult. Resident Evil Village retains its first-person survival-horror gameplay but injects more action into the formula to reflect that Ethan is no longer just a civilian. Like Resident Evil 4, players can purchase and upgrade weapons to deal with enemies more efficiently. Foes are faster and more robust, and boss fights require a more aggressive approach. Resident Evil Village will receive a new Gold Edition, which will include the ability to play as more characters from the game in the mercenaries mode, an option to play the entire game in third-person, and an epilogue where players can play as Ethan's daughter as a teenager.
