Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will allow players to fight and capture a Fighting Tera-type Cinderace for a limited time. The last form in the Galar’s Fire-type starter’s evolutionary line is not traditionally available in the most recent Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch, so this is an exclusive opportunity for those who hold the Striker Pokémon dear. Once obtained, however, players can breed and even shiny hunt it through breeding.

Before that, nonetheless, they will first need to capture the Fighting Tera-type Cinderace. To do that, players will have to face the Pokémon in a Tera Raid during a limited-time event, much like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Charizard Tera Raid event. The 7-Star Tera Raid Battles against Cinderace will happen in two instances, according to Serebii: from December 30 to January 1, 2023, and then from January 13, 2023, to January 15, 2023. While the Pokémon may be faced multiple times, it can only be captured once, similar to Charizard’s introduction to the Generation 9 games.

How To Beat Fighting Tera Type Cinderace In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Pokémon Journeys: Goh's Cinderace is ready to battle on the field.

The event-limited Tera Raid Cinderace in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be a Fighting Tera type, but it will retain its Fire-type origin in the sense that its moveset will also contain Fire-type moves and maybe even a few other surprises. With that in mind, players need to face it with Pokémon that can be super effective against Fighting-type but also resistant to Fighting- and Fire-type. The main suggestion for tackling this is taking the best Fairy-types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to face it.

A few other possibilities for facing the Cinderace raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are taking Psychic-type or Flying-type Pokémon since they are also primarily strong against its Fighting Tera type. However, it is important to point out that Cinderace is capable of learning Steel-type, Poison-type, Dark-type, Ghost-type, and Electric-type moves, which can be the surprises capable of countering players’ choices. Therefore, the safest option among most is to stick to Fairy-type Pokémon.

The perfect choice for challenging Cinderace in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s limited-time raids is a bulky Azumarill. The dual Water and Fairy-type Pokémon grant both offensive and defensive advantages against its opponent. Of course, players should invest in Azumarill’s best build in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to make proper use of it. The Generation 2 Pokémon is resistant to Cinderace’s Fire- and Fighting-type moves while also having a devastatingly strong move list against the foe’s Tera Fighting-type structure.

If players don’t have a decent Azumarill built, they can face the Fighting Tera type Cinderace in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with a Sylveon. The Fairy-type Eeveelution lacks Azumarill’s natural resistance to Fire-type moves but is still resistant to the opponent’s Fighting-type moves. Because of its high offensive stats, it is a fan-favorite for powering through high-leveled Tera raids. As is the case with Azumarill, Sylveon’s best build in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is ideal for defeating Cinderace raids, especially the Moonblast moveset.

Once defeated, the Fighting Tera-type Cinderace can be captured. However, players should remember that Tera encounters have a 100% catch rate, so they can choose the Poké Ball of their preference, be that an ordinary one or a Luxury Ball, which is quite popular because of its sparkling effect when releasing Pokémon. With that, Trainers may breed Cinderace to obtain the whole evolutionary line, as well as shiny hunt it through the Masuda Method in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
