Marvel Comics' attorney-turned-superhero Jennifer Walters - aka the Sensational She-Hulk - is one of the latest stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 'perfect hulk,' She-Hulk has the unusual ability to fully retain her human intellect and personality while in a gamma-enhanced form. This means that one of the Marvel Universe's strongest beings is also among its most intelligent, as Jennifer Walters combines earth-shaking strength with a legal mind so powerful, even the gods have trusted her to settle cosmic disputes.
In a photoshoot from photographer Cade London (@whatcadefound), cosplayer/digital creator @caitlinchristinee's She-Hulk is seen exhibiting her massive super-powered strength by effortlessly lifting an automobile with one hand. Though her strength does not quite match the level of her cousin, Jen remains one of the most powerful Avengers to date. On a good day, She-Hulk is capable of going up against the likes of Marvel heavy hitters Hercules, Thing, the Wrecking Crew, and the Champion of the Universe. Even that is just her base strength - Jen is capable of 'Hulking Out' like Bruce on rare occasions, and thanks to a recent upgrade from the Celestials, she became powerful enough to face off with Marvel's gods.
She-Hulk Is the Avengers' Resident Powerhouse
Following an attempted mafia assassination, Jennifer gained her tremendous abilities via an emergency blood transfusion from her infamous cousin, Bruce Banner. The transfusion allowed Walters to survive her ordeal with the adverse side effect of transforming into a Hulk. It was initially anger or an increased heart rate that triggered Jen's transformations, but her continued experience miraculously allowed Jen to maintain her human psyche. She-Hulk quickly gained the attention of the masses and did not waste any time in becoming a public figure without a secret identity to hold her back. She-Hulk became an essential member of various teams like A-Force, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Heroes for Hire. With her skills as a lawyer and Avenger, She-Hulk has often served to calm public fears about superheroes, counteracting the panic that tends to collect around powerhouse beings like her cousin.
However, while Bruce gave She-Hulk her powers, he's also held her back in other ways. On paper, She-Hulk is the definitive superhero - a professional do-gooder whose life as a lawyer is just as interesting as her superpowered adventures, and whose simple but iconic design is instantly recognizable. However, with Hulk being a household name, it's easy for casual fans to see Jennifer as the less-strong knock-off, and she often misses out on the top billing given to contemporaries like Captain Marvel.
Despite a frequent lack of credit for her sometimes comedic, sometimes tragic tone, She-Hulk is the definition of what makes comic-book superheroes great - a fact that this awesome cosplay from @caitlinchristinee instantly brings to mind.
