It has been reported that The Real Housewives of New York City stars Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan have landed their own spinoff show, and fans are sharing their thoughts about the news. The show will take after The Simple Life, which aired in 2003, and starred Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Reportedly, Luann and Sonja will ditch their glam lives and embrace life in a town in Middle America. The two reality icons will live among the regular townsfolk.

RHONY fans are excited to finally learn more about their favorite cast members, after the franchise was put on hold following season 13. Bravo producer Andy Cohen announced that RHONY would be completely re-cast with unknown faces, while the original housewives would star in a throwback legacy show. However, with the focus being on casting the RHONY reboot for now, Andy shared that the legacy show will be put on the back burner for the time being.

It looks as if Luann and Sonja are wasting no time getting their faces back on small screens. Reddit user Vanessss4 posted, “Luann and Sonja land ‘Simple Life’-style reality show,” and RHONY fans had plenty to say about it. Pillowfortinmymind responded, “I’m actually excited for this! This is a format that will work well for the two of them.” Onefishtwofish1992 wrote, “I actually love this concept. They’re both delusional, but I think they both have a good sense of humor which will work well for this type of show.”

Viewers wonder how Luann and Sonja will fare away from their Upper East Side bubble, and can imagine Sonja going on about the Morgan legacy while Luann sings “Money Can’t Buy You Class” at the local bar. Many agree that the two housewives have a great dynamic, and will bring a lot of laughs to the show. RHONY fans also wonder how Ramona Singer responded to being left out of the spinoff. Boobearmysteries wrote, “I feel bad for whoever manages Ramona today getting an earful.” Rj6728 agreed: “I can totally see her huffing up and down the streets of the UES, barking into her phone about how the network doesn’t support other women.”

Luann and Sonja’s spinoff has yet to be named, but it is reported that the filming of the series will start in  July. The lighthearted show may be just what RHONY fans need after the heaviness of season 13. Fans were also disappointed to hear that the franchise was on hiatus, and many were worried that it would be years before it aired again, much like The Real Housewives of Miami. Still, RHONY is one of the longest-running and most popular shows in the franchise, so Bravo producers will be sure to push season 14 along. Until then, The Real Housewives of New York City fans will have to get their fix through Luann and Sonja’s new show.
