The first season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip just ended and fans loved it, although it was very different from the Real Housewives franchise. For years, fans have wondered what it would be like to have the housewives come together from different shows, and the Peacock streaming platform answered that question. Several housewives were flown to a luxury resort in Turks and Caicos on a private jet, and some were meeting for the first time. During their stay, they played games, hosted dinners, and bonded with one another. Sometimes, there was drama, but fans expect nothing less from the Housewives.
Hosting girls’ trips became a Real Housewives tradition. Each season, one or more of the housewives would pick a destination and the women would be thrown together for several days. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip is one big girls’ trip where franchise stars are filmed for short periods of time and then go their separate ways. Being in close quarters, even for such a limited amount of time, caused many of the women to grow close, despite being very new friends. Some RHUGT stars thought Kenya Moore would be intimidating, but she surprised everyone by being warm and welcoming.
Fans feel that some of the Real Housewives storylines are fabricated and forced. However, RHUGT had a more natural and unscripted feel. There was some head-butting between Kenya and Ramona Singer, as well as growing tension between Cynthia Bailey and Kenya. However, the focus was mainly on the women forming natural friendships. Surprisingly, Teresa Giudice got along with all of the women, despite usually being in the middle of The Real Housewives of New Jersey drama. Teresa admitted to Kyle Richards and Ramona Singer that she felt alone on her show and that none of the women had her back. However, Teresa felt a strong bond with the women of RHUGT, telling them they would be friends for life.
One of the things that fans love about RHUGT is that the spinoff broke the fourth wall. On Real Housewives programs, the women are not allowed to talk about being on the shows or mention the production that goes on behind the scenes. When the RHUGT women talked about their times on their respective shows, it gave viewers a glimpse into what it was like to be a Housewife. Fans also got to learn some juicy tidbits, such as how Teresa’s friendship with former Housewife Jacqueline Laurita ended, and how Kyle Richards felt about Erika Girardi’s lawsuits. Kenya also addressed the rumors that she had hired Walter Jackson to be her boyfriend on her show, and Luann de Lesseps spoke about how betrayed she felt when Bethenny Frankel dropped the bomb about her then-husband, Tom D’Agostino.
RHUGT felt like a lighter, more fun version of other Real Housewives series, as most of the women came into the show with no history or previous drama. Additionally, casting housewives from different backgrounds showed the reality stars in a new light. Cynthia, who was usually the peacemaker on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, found it difficult to connect with the other women. Sadly, her friendship with Kenya took a hit when she felt ignored by her long-time BFF. Unsurprisingly, Ramona still managed to ruffle feathers with her abrasive nature, but still redeemed herself at the end. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip season 2 has finished filming with an entirely new cast, and fans are already anticipating its arrival.
