Warning! This article contains spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever!

Toussaint made his first appearance in the mid-credits scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but is there a clear timeline in the MCU for when he was born and how old he is now? The sequel to Black Panther revealed plenty of new information about Wakanda, the newly uncovered nation of Talokan, and the royal families of both. With the film focusing largely on life following T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) passing, it made perfect sense to explore the remaining family ties and how his legacy lives on.

One example of his legacy living on was the unexpected reveal of his and Nakia's son, Prince T'Challa, or Toussaint as he is known outside of his small circle of trust. Divine Love Konadu-Sun is the young actor playing the son of the late Black Panther and Wakanda Forever is his acting debut. Precious little is known about the actor and the character who is an MCU original, but there is only a narrow window for when the young Prince could have been conceived in the 616 timeline.

Prince T'Challa's Age Makes Infinity War Even Sadder

T'Challa and Nakia look at each other in Black Panther

Avengers: Infinity War is set in 2018, with the events of Avengers: Endgame set five years later in 2023. Black Panther was set just prior to the events of Infinity War in 2018, and the movie establishes that Nakia had left Wakanda for some time prior on an undercover mission. Although T'Challa and Nakia clearly had a prior relationship, it is apparent that they reconnect during Black Panther. Since T'Challa is one of the victim's of Thanos' snap and disappears between 2018 and 2023, Nakia must have become pregnant in the brief window between Black Panther and Infinity War in 2018.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever reveals that Nakia left immediately following the blip as both Toussaint's father and aunt, T'Challa and Shuri, were gone. This means that Toussaint spent almost his entire life without his father, likely less than a full year following his return. Toussaint is likely to be just 6 years old when he is introduced to Shuri at the end of Wakanda Forever, which is set in 2024, and it is clear the impact of lost time due to Thanos' actions hurt their family, but young Prince T'Challa's charming smile makes it clear that they are all the more resilient and strong regardless.

What's Next For Prince T'Challa In The MCU?

Prince T'Challa is surrounded by strong role models who are guaranteed to raise him knowing his heritage and namesake and ensure he is able to protect himself. Nakia is an elite Wakandan Spy and diplomat, while aunt Shuri is now the Black Panther, sworn to protect her country and people. With the growing number of young heroes entering the MCU and taking the mantle from their predecessors, it is entirely possible that T'Challa Jr. will one day follow in his father's footsteps, either leading Wakanda from the front as King or protecting its people as a future Black Panther. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever left the door wide open for T'Challa's future, but it is certain he will return in some capacity.
