Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse features an older Miles Morales, but fans may be wondering what his exact age is. The sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse reunites Miles with Gwen Stacy and Peter B. Parker as they face the multiverse-traveling villain Spot. Anchoring the action and grand scale of the Spider-Verse saga is Miles's struggle to balance his superhero duties with the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. His conflict was central to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is also poised to place a special focus on his plight.

Much like Peter Parker, Miles was forced to contend with the responsibilities of being Spider-Man from a very young age. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, he seemed between 14 and 15 years old, given how he mentioned having already gone through puberty. As evidenced by Rio Morales's speech in the first Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer, Miles is still a teenager. However, the time jump between the two movies opens the question of the young Spider-Man's age in his latest big-screen adventure.

Miles Morales Is Likely Around 17 Years Old In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Miles Morales's age is not made clear in the trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, nor is the length of time it's been since Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. However, certain clues show that a considerable amount of time passed between Spider-Man's first multiverse-saving endeavor and the events of the upcoming sequel. The most obvious is Miles's physique. He is larger and more muscular, with his voice sounding deeper than before. However, he is not yet an adult. During YouTube's Premium Afterparty for the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer, producer Chris Miller described Miles as a teenager. That, combined with his physique, points to him being around 17 years old.

Miles's age fits with the apparent gap between the events of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and what happens in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The sequel will introduce Peter B. Parker and Mary Jane's daughter, Mayday. In the Premium Afterparty video, Miller and Phil Lord revealed a picture of the new character, who seems to be around or slightly under a year old. Taking into account Mary Jane's pregnancy and Mayday's apparent age, there seems to be at least a two-year gap between the two movies, which would fall in line with Miles being around 15 in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and 17 in the sequel.

Miles Morales' Age Will Be Important In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Miles Morales in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse

Growing up has always been an important theme in the Spider-Man movie multiverse, particularly for Miles Morales. He was thrust into a world of superheroes and villains at an age in which he was still finding himself, which created a unique challenge for his personal growth. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse introduces an even more complex dilemma for him, because he is eager to find his path in life while struggling with the idea of leaving his family behind. As Chris Miller explained during the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Premium Afterparty video:

"[Miles] is a teenager. When you're growing up, there's that feeling [where] you want to see what the world has to offer, and you want to go out there. The push and pull of wanting to stay rooted with your family and then also leave the nest is part of what the whole movie is about."

Such a moral dilemma will likely be accentuated by Miles's superhero responsibilities. Unlike normal teenagers, for him, finding a path in life involves a lot of large-scale battles, world-ending events, and dangerous supervillains. Miles saved the multiverse at the end of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse shortly after becoming Spider-Man and has continued to carry the world on his shoulders since, but he is still, ultimately, just a child. Exploring his journey toward balancing his young life and superhero alter ego could provide Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with an emotional gravitas similar to its 2018 predecessor.
