The Netflix show Too Hot To Handle is unconventional, like much of the streaming platform's content, and there are varying accounts on how real or fake the show is from former cast members. Too Hot To Handle is a reality show that follows the romantic lives of ten singles who are looking to have some fun and maybe enjoy a little romance if things go well. The show casts very attractive young people and sends them to a gorgeous paradise.

Of course, there is a catch. Cast members who want to win the show's $100,000 cash prize can't hook up with one another. As is to be expected, a lot of drama comes with this kind of premise. Hotheaded contestants that are looking to have a good time aren't happy about the Too Hot To Handle rules, which leads to questions regarding the authenticity of the show and if Too Hot To Handle is scripted.

Harry Jowsey Claimed Parts of Too Hot To Handle Are Fake

Harry Jowsey from Too Hot To Handle season 1 sat down with Cosmopolitan in 2020 to talk about the specifics of the show. When it comes to parts of the show that may be less authentic than others, Harry says that viewers are on to something when they question what they see onscreen. The producers certainly are not shy about stepping into scenes and directing them to get the results to please the show's fans. The alum added that: "If they know that you've got a problem or you need to have a chat with someone, they'll just point you in the right direction to get a result [...].

Other Too Hot To Handle Cast Members Claimed Show Is Real

What's interesting is that there are housemates like Nicole O’Brien, also from the first season, who disagree with Harry. Nicole interviewed with Collider in 2020, saying that everything in the show is 100% authentic. According to her, Too Hot To Handle is filmed for a month and then edited into ten episodes. It's probable that the uninteresting stuff is left on the editing floor. Nicole also stated that she was unaware of the "no sex rule" going into the show, so her reaction to finding out about it was genuine.

When it comes to the show's rules, they seemed to be real. Contestants do try to make sure that they abide by them for the sake of the cash prize. As the show grew in popularity, tricking the contestants into appearing on the show became more interesting, as seen in the Too Hot To Handle season 4 twist. It does seem like producers withheld the premise up until the very last minute. Francesca Farago seconded this by saying that when she received the green light, all she knew about the show was that she was going to be in the company of attractive people. That fact surely influenced her decision to proceed.

Due to its wild popularity, Netflix announced its renewal of Too Hot To Handle season 5 in January 2023. Although a release date hasn't been set, it's expected to arrive in late 2023. Contestants will likely have to adhere to the rules of the show once again, which includes no intimacy whatsoever. All of this drama will make Too Hot To Handle season 5 worth watching and convincingly real to the audience.
