A new image created with the DALL-E AI tool turns How I Met Your Mother into a horror movie, but it's pretty much just the same show. First airing in 2005 on CBS, How I Met Your Mother quickly became a big hit with fans around the world for its heart-warming humor and unique premise. The show follows New York City architect Ted Moseby (Josh Radnor) as he walks his two children through the long and complex story of how he eventually met their mother. The show ran for 9 popular seasons before eventually coming to a somewhat divisive conclusion in 2014.

Although the show aired its last episodes almost 10 years ago, fan love for How I Met Your Mother remains strong. A spinoff show, How I Met Your Father, recently aired its first season on Hulu and, despite mixed reviews, the return of several original cast members and various callbacks to How I Met Your Mother made the show a worthwhile watch for fans of the original show. In addition to Radnor, How I Met Your Mother features a standout cast, including Jason Segal, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Cobie Smulders, who can also be seen in MCU properties like Avengers and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

In a new DALL-E image grid imagining what How I Met Your Mother would look like as a horror movie, the show is mostly the same save for some disturbing facial distortion of the main characters. The AI-generated images depict the characters at what appears to be MacLaren's Pub drinking and chatting, with the distorted faces lending a somewhat eerie tone to everything. The DALL-E AI image generation tool has been sweeping the internet as of late, with many users attempting to concoct a variety of strange and funny images with their keywords. How I Met Your Mother is very lighthearted, like most sitcoms, and it would seem that even an AI tool as powerful as DALL-E struggles when it comes to turning the series into a horror movie. The grid of images does prove, if nothing else, however, that How I Met Your Mother would be a much less lighthearted watch if the characters were all wearing face-distorting masks.

The popularity of the episodes of How I Met Your Father that feature characters from How I Met Your Mother suggests that fans still have a great love of the original show. Catching up with Smulders' Robin Scherbatsky, for example, and seeing her impart words of wisdom to Hilary Duff's Sophie, was a truly nice moment and a reminder of just how memorable the original show still is. While it's unlikely that audiences will ever get a horror movie rendition of How I Met Your Mother, the latest DALL-E generation suggests that, apart from the characters' faces, not much would change.
