How I Met Your Mother featured several websites over the course of the show's run, and many of them were created for viewers to visit. Developed by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the CBS sitcom ran 9 seasons from 2005 to 2014. Despite How I Met Your Mother's controversial ending, the series gained a loyal following that continued well beyond the original broadcast. To provide even more entertainment, the series decided to invent interactive websites to tie into the show.

Barney certainly had a habit of creating websites during his arc on How I Met Your Mother as a way to better his chances with women. There was no doubt that the character was the Lemon Law-wielding womanizer of the group, and he took pride in that fact. Aside from Barney, Marshall was also knowledgable in creating websites for various ventures that involved his wife or best friends.

To further connect with fans, How I Met Your Mother made Barney's official blog available to read on the network's website and the entries can still be found through archives even though the blog is no longer active. Many of them are still active as they were registered to the Intellectual Property Department of 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios). Here's some insight into the current tie-in websites.
