How I Met Your Father has officially added GLOW star Chris Lowell to its cast. Created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the series will be a loose spinoff of How I Met Your Mother. The latter sitcom ran for a total of nine seasons between 2005 and 2014. Starring Josh Radnor, the series centered on Ted Mosby as he relayed to his children the long-winding story of how he met their mother. With a series of flashbacks depicting the events of his narration, the show also starred Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Jason Segel as his New York-based friend group. Unfortunately, despite increasing acclaim and popularity across its run, How I Met Your Mother concluded with a controversial finale.

How I Met Your Father was previously confirmed to follow a similar format. Hilary Duff has already signed on to play the lead role of Sophie, who'll relay the titular story to her young son. According to ET, Lowell has been cast as Jesse, one of Sophie's own friend group. Jesse is described as smart, has an edge, and remains cynical about love. An aspiring musician, he works as an Uber driver to make ends meet and lives with his best friend, Tom. As well as starring on GLOW as Sebastian "Bash" Howard, Lowell is best known for Stosh "Piz" Piznarski on Veronica Mars and roles in such acclaimed movies as Promising Young Woman.
