The fan favorite Javier Colón should have made it much farther in Netflix's Outlast, but was let down by the ruthless choices that other costars made. The survivalist show revealed just how far some contestants would go to win one million dollars. While Javier played a stand-up game, he sadly didn't make it that far.

Netflix took some DNA from History Channel's Alone, bringing viewers a new type of competition show. Outlast dropped 16 contestants from around the United States into the Alaskan wilderness. While some had a little experience with the outdoors, none were actually adventurers. The lone wolves seemed to be preparing for the apocalypse, and they were in for a grueling experience. The goal was simple, to win as part of a team, and play however they saw fit. The landscape soon seemed more like the Wild West, as gloves were taken off, and lines were drawn.

Who Is Outlast's Javier Colon?

From day one of being stranded in Alaska, Javier noted that he wasn't a people person. However, he came off as one of the nicest players in the Outlast game. Javier's Netflix bio stated that he was from San Francisco, California. The 42-year-old has always enjoyed living off the grid, and prefers to spend time by himself. Raised in the "Rust Belt," Javier was one of the more seasoned Outlast travelers out of all 16 competitors. He took a 31-day backpacking tour in Spain, completed an 18,000-mile bike tour, and even biked the entire island of Iceland.

Why Javier Colon Should Have Won Outlast

With Team Alpha and Team Bravo being on the same side of the river, the two decided to join forces. However, Javier became disenchanted with his allies when Team Alpha started playing dirty. During the episode, "Hunting the Thief," Javier watched Alpha begin a new strategy of forcing others to quit. They targeted Dawn Nelson and Joel Huntgate, stealing their sleeping bags. Javier had a front-row seat to watch, and called them, "evil" Sadly, he was later attacked by Alpha's Jill Ashock and Amber Asay, as they tried raiding his camp and stealing his nets.

On Instagram, Amber responded to backlash about Outlast, blaming editing and the show's agenda for the forced drama, and the way the team was portrayed: "...at the bottom line, this is theatre, it’s drama,” she continued, “It’s reality TV. Most of the stuff they’re playing is the drama. They didn’t hit on any of the bush-crafting on any of the shelter building, the foraging, the transformation that it took to go from being this scared girl when I got there to being who they portray me on the show.”

Ultimately, Javier was denied entry to Charlie, and had to exit the Survivor-style competition game. The withdrawal came across as unfair, since Javier had done the right thing by not participating in Alpha's antics. Since day one, Javier had been slated to go all the way on Outlast, with this voluntary withdrawal coming as a shock. He might have benefited from teaming up with Alpha. However, the Outlast celeb did leave the show on his own terms, knowing that he hadn't hurt anyone, or put their lives in danger.
