All of the characters in How I Met Your Mother are unique and Robin Scherbatsky is no exception. There are reasons to love her, but there are also reasons not to. The audience has mixed feelings about Robin and her storylines and her romances with Ted and Barney are contentious.

With an ending as controversial as How I Met Your Mother's, there's plenty of room for disagreements among fans. The majority of viewers tend to hold similar opinions about Robin and her relationships, but there are threads on Reddit that express a differing point of view.

Robin And Barney Never Should've Happened

Barney and Robin might have been toxic at times, but they were a fan-favorite pairing for years. A Reddit user makes a valid point when they mention that viewers hated the series finale because of their attachment to Barney and Robin. The wedding was key in showing that Ted never stopped loving Robin, up until he met Tracy on the night of Robin's wedding.

If Robin had been marrying someone less significant, such as Don, the audience wouldn't have as big of a problem with the ending. The user continues on to say that the ending does make sense in the broad scheme of things, but fans' love for Barney and Robin prevented them from being objective.

Robin Floating Away Was A Perfect Metaphor

There's one scene, in particular, that's always raised eyebrows due to how cheesy it comes across. Robin becomes the personification of a balloon Ted lost as a child, and "Eternal Flame" plays while Ted lets her go and watches her float away.

Reddit thread points out that it was actually a perfect metaphor for the situation. Instead of letting go on accident like the first time, Ted let go on purpose. The scene was lame and cheesy, but it was fitting because so is Ted.

Robin Is A Terrible Girlfriend

On a thread asking people to give their unpopular opinions on the show, one person simply commented that Robin is a terrible girlfriend. It even received a reply from another user saying that they hope this isn't actually an unpopular opinion.

A lot of the characters have made bad decisions in their relationships, and Robin is among them. One of her worst love life decisions included cheating on Kevin with Barney and staying with him despite her and Barney's plan to give things another shot.

Robin Gets More Hate Than She Deserves

Robin isn't the most popular character in the gang, at least, among fans, and many viewers find her selfish and annoying.

But not everyone finds Robin as unbearable as others, and a fan expresses their own opinion about her. Despite Robin's selfishness, they found her to be a believable character. She's not perfect, but she gets much more hate than she deserves. It takes all kinds of characters to make good television and Robin was a necessary part of HIMYM.

Robin Getting Back With Ted Was Full Circle Ending

It's no secret that a large majority of viewers hate the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. Barney and Robin divorce and Ted and Robin get back together after the titular mother character passes away years later. Barney and Robin shippers were heartbroken over the twist, but a fan explains why the ending was perfect.

Everything revolved around Ted and Robin's relationship since the pilot. It was a storyline the show never let go of, and there was clearly a reason. The blue french horn being used for the same purpose in the first and last episode is the definition of a full circle ending.

Robin's Hatred For Loretta Made No Sense

In reply to a Reddit thread, a fan commented that Robin's hatred for Loretta just made her plain mean. They went on to say that the entire feud between them was ridiculous and even pointed out that Robin and Loretta never had problems in the past.

This is more of an observation than an opinion, but there were fans who enjoyed the rivalry between Robin and her future mother-in-law. It could be argued that Robin was jealous that Barney had such a good mother, but the way she treated her was over the top.

The Finale Made Robin A Bad Friend

Most viewers agree that while Robin had her flaws, she was always there for her friends when they needed her. However, a Reddit thread and some of its replies argue that Robin became a terrible friend after she and Barney divorced. One fan commented that she didn't even go to the big moments in her friends' lives as she promised.

Tracy had to convince Robin to come to Ted's wedding, even though Ted was the best man at Barney and Robin's. They also point out that she didn't keep in close contact with Lily and Marshall, which clearly broke Lily's heart.
