Fans of How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) have been excited for a whole new story in How I Met Your Father. Older Sophie Is Not Married

While viewers of the original series expected Ted to be married in the end, they were surprised to find that he was a widower and that instead, the end of the series would have him end up with Robin, a character that had been eliminated as the mother in the first episode.

Guardian Angel Cameos

A popular theory on Reddit is that Sid and Valentina will end up together, with one Reddit user saying that "this ship is so popular [that there is] no way they wouldn't put them together."
While Sid and Valentina have not yet shown much chemistry, viewers have identified that they may have more in common than they realize. Valentina and Charlie have broken up due to the fact that Valentina wants kids someday and Charlie doesn't. If Sid wants kids, Valentina may be more compatible than the always busy Hannah.
Sophie Will Inspire Ted

This option opens up some doors to Sophie's actual relationship with the father. If her son is adopted, it is possible that she is not telling a romantic story after all, but the story of how she met her son's biological parents and ended up adopting him.
Sophie Will Be Pregnant During The Show
Assuming that Sophie is her son's biological mother, Redditor Abeybabbby676767 believes that viewers will meet the baby version of her son sooner rather than later and that the show will see Sophie "pregnant with [sic] Jesse's baby." This Reddit user gives this theory as their prediction for How I Met Your Father season 2, meaning that Sophie could have conceived her son in the season 1 finale.
This would certainly be a surprise for viewers that are expecting the show to follow the format of HIMYM and could be pulled off due to the fact that Sophie's son has not been shown on screen, so viewers do not know how old he is.
The Father Will Be Alive
HIMYM's controversial ending had viewers divided. Some thought the twist perfectly tied up the way that the show had been so focused on Ted's love for Robin, while others believed that it was a cop-out from the writers.
