Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4 part 1

Despite not being a Flight 828 passenger, Eden has Callings in Manifest. It was confirmed in Manifest season 4 part 1 that the youngest daughter of Ben and Grace somehow gets her own Callings. How she’s able to receive them without experiencing the phenomenon responsible for Flight 828’s disappearance is one of the show’s many unanswered questions.

Manifest has refrained from providing a thorough explanation for Eden’s link to the Callings, but has hinted at the answer. When Cal and Olive were discussing the matter, the latter pointed out that there must be some other way to get the Callings. In other words, their understanding of where the Callings come from was at least slightly incorrect. Apparently, Manifest’s divine consciousness doesn’t necessarily have to draw someone into “the glow” to give them the Callings. There has to be a second way to get them since Eden never vanished in the same way that the Flight 828 passengers, Zeke, Al-Zuras and his crew, and all the others did in previous incidents.

Manifest’s New Callings Mystery Explained

Manifest Season 4 Saanvi Michaela Eagan

Thanks to the developments made in Manifest season 4’s first half, the passengers have a good idea of what the Callings actually are and where they come from. It would seem that they’re memories of messages they received from the divine consciousness that took in Flight 828. That makes the origin of Eden’s Callings an important plot point for Manifest season 4’s ending. She is the daughter of a Flight 828 passenger so that could be a factor, but the Callings being inherited genetically isn’t the most sensible explanation. Instead, it looks like the divine consciousness simply gave her Callings without making her disappear.

Why the divine consciousness is using Eden likely has to do with the show’s endgame. Presumably, the passengers are intended to use her Callings to help them stop the Death Date and prevent the apocalypse. As for why she gets Callings the others don’t, it may be that certain details were never revealed to the passengers while inside the divine consciousness, which is why it has since selected Eden to serve as a second source of information.

Has Eden Become The New Cal?

Manifest Season 4 Eden

How Eden was able to help the passengers in Manifest season 4 part 1 is reminiscent of Cal’s role in the show’s first three seasons. Now that Cal has been aged forward by several years, his Callings are no more coherent than the messages received by all the other adult passengers on the show. When he was a child, his understanding of the Callings lacked clarity, but he translated them into drawings that provided clear clues as to where Ben, Saanvi, and Michaela were supposed to go. Ben noticing Eden spelling out the word “ALNI” and using that to find Marko was indicative of how Eden has essentially become Manifest’s new Cal.
