Peacock is a solid streaming service for TV shows and live sports, but if you find that Peacock is no longer of use to you, canceling the subscription can be done in seconds. The way we consume television has changed dramatically in a few short years. Gone are the days of relying on cable TV and buying DVDs. Today, it's all about paying for multiple streaming apps. From Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Discovery+, and countless others, the choices for streaming services are greater than ever before.

Among all of those is NBC's Peacock service. Launched in April 2020, Peacock has a few big things going for it. For starters, it's the exclusive home for popular TV shows like The OfficeEverybody Loves RaymondParks And Recreation, and others. It's also a huge destination for sports, offering live soccer games, exclusive streaming rights to the Olympics, and Super Bowl LVI in February 2022. Combined with other titles like Saturday Night Live and all the Harry Potter movies, it's no surprise Peacock is gradually turning into a household name.

Despite all the content available on Peacock, that's not to say it's a streaming service everyone should be subscribed to. If you find that you aren't using Peacock as much as you'd like (or if you only signed up to watch a specific sporting event), it's probably a good idea to cancel your membership. The good news? Canceling Peacock is extremely easy. Per Peacock's instructions, visit the Peacock website on a phone or computer. Click the 'Sign In' button, enter your account information, and then click the 'Account' button at the top of the 'Who's watching?' page. If the Peacock website skips this page and goes right to the home screen, you can also access it by clicking your profile icon and then the 'Account' button. Here, click 'Change Plan,' click 'Peacock Free,' and click the yellow 'Change Plan' button. Just like that, you've downgraded/canceled your paid membership and will no longer get charged by Peacock.

Other Tips For Canceling & Downgrading Your Peacock Subscription

After switching to Peacock Free, users will no longer have access to Peacock's live sports, other live events, Peacock Original shows, next-day access to current NBC shows, and will be blocked from watching other select movies/TV series on the service. There are still some titles you can watch on Peacock without paying for it, but it's a dramatically scaled-back experience compared to the Premium version of the service.

Instead of going all the way to Peacock Free, another option is to switch from the most expensive Premium Plus plan to Premium. Premium Plus includes all of the above perks, in addition to ad-free streaming and the ability to download titles for offline playback. It's also a difference of $9.99/month for Premium Plus vs. $4.99/month for Premium. If someone has Premium Plus and wants to switch to Premium, follow the steps above to get to the Account page. Click 'Change Plan' again, but this time click the checkbox next to 'Plus Option (Ad-Free)' so it's no longer selected. Click the 'Change Plan' button to confirm your selection, and you'll go from paying $9.99 to $4.99 every month for Peacock without losing access to any of the shows, movies, or sports on the service.

Last but certainly not least, anyone who signed up for Peacock on an Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) may need to follow different instructions to cancel/downgrade their Peacock membership. If the Account page on the Peacock website doesn't show any of these controls, that's because you signed up for Peacock through Apple's App Store. In this case, open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, tap the profile icon in the top-right corner, tap 'Subscriptions,' and tap 'Peacock' from the list of ongoing subscriptions to cancel or change your plan.
