As 90 Day Fiancé stars Jibri and Miona Bell prepare for their wedding day, his parents are pushing them to postpone their nuptials, which is leading some fans to call his mother and father season 9 villains. Jibri and Miona met for the first time while he was on tour with his band, Black Serbs. While he was onstage, he locked eyes with Miona, and instantly fell in love. From that point on, they traveled the world and built their relationship. In Thailand, they got engaged, and prepared for her arrival in America.

However, Jibri is a struggling musician, and he spent more time with Miona than with his band, which put him in an awkward financial position. As a result, he moved in with his parents, who have been less than supportive. Before Miona even arrived in America, Jibri's mother Mahala Bach was already judgmental of her style choices, based on what Miona wore in social media posts. After Jibri's partner arrived, Mahala laid down ground rules about appropriate attire and household chores. Alas, those stipulations weren't enough, as a few weeks before the wedding, Jibri's parents asked the couple to move out.

Their antics don't end there. The couple graciously left, but Jibri made another attempt to reach out to his parents about attending the wedding. The first time, as per the show, they declined the invitation due to "the lack of organization," saying that they didn't have the time to attend a destination wedding. However, Mahala didn't seem to grasp the fact that the couple only had 90 days to marry. She found out about 90 Day Fiancé's Miona's interview a week before she arrived. Then, when Jibri called them days before the wedding, he even offered to pay for flights for his parents, but they still declined. It's clear that Jibri wants the approval of his parents. When they parted ways, he told them, "next year you're going to be proud of me."

Their hesitancy about his wedding obviously weighs heavily on him, and they seem unwilling to support him. Eventually, Mahala agreed to give her blessing, but still wouldn't attend. It seems like Mahala enjoys having power over her son, and her lock of encouragement keeps them off balance. While her concerns are understandable, the way that she conveys them often leads to more angst in the family. In the end, 90 Day Fiancé's Mahala did attempt to play nice, by sticking up for Miona when Jibri referred to her as an "entitled millennial," but that doesn't change the negative impact of her overall behavior towards his now-wife.

When they spoke about moving out, Jibri stated that he felt like he was 15 years old again. However, to some viewers, Mahala appears to act more like a 15-year-old. When she didn't get her way, she asked the couple to leave, and boycotted their wedding. On the one hand, Mahala was doing her best as a parent to highlight her concerns to her son, but on the other hand, it seemed like she cared more about keeping her son to herself. The couple has said their "I dos," but 90 Day Fiancé fans can't help but wonder what role Jibri's parents will play in their marriage in the future.
