Before Miona even arrived in America, Jibri's mother Mahala Bach was already judgmental of her style choices, based on what Miona wore in social media posts. After Jibri's partner arrived, Mahala laid down ground rules about appropriate attire and household chores. Alas, those stipulations weren't enough, as a few weeks before the wedding, Jibri's parents asked the couple to move out.
Their antics don't end there. The couple graciously left, but Jibri made another attempt to reach out to his parents about attending the wedding. The first time, as per the show, they declined the invitation due to "the lack of organization," saying that they didn't have the time to attend a destination wedding. However, Mahala didn't seem to grasp the fact that the couple only had 90 days to marry. She found out about 90 Day Fiancé's Miona's interview a week before she arrived. Then, when Jibri called them days before the wedding, he even offered to pay for flights for his parents, but they still declined. It's clear that Jibri wants the approval of his parents. When they parted ways, he told them, "next year you're going to be proud of me."
Their hesitancy about his wedding obviously weighs heavily on him, and they seem unwilling to support him. Eventually, Mahala agreed to give her blessing, but still wouldn't attend.
