New 90 Day Fiancé star Guillermo Rojer's brother passed away, and it's time to share details behind the tragic event. TLC viewers may know the 23-year-old star Guillermo from season 9 of the show, where he appeared alongside his American partner, Kara Bass. The couple first met when Kara was traveling to the Dominican Republic for a work trip. Kara and Guillermo quickly fell in love and got engaged, but the pandemic kept them apart for nine months. In the new season, viewers saw the couple arrive in the United States together, and work on their personal differences, including Kara's history of cheating on her partners.

Finally, fans saw 90 Day Fiancé's Guillermo and Kara tying the knot in a beautiful ceremony, which was attended by their family and friends. The 23-year-old Venezuelan groom used Internet video calling to ensure that his family was there with him during the wedding. He even paid a sweet homage to his recently departed brother. While talking to cameras, Guillermo shared that he had put flowers on the front row seat, to honor his late brother, and feel like his late sibling was at the wedding.

Guillermo's brother José Joaquín died a few weeks ahead of his wedding. The couple first learned about his health condition when they received an emergency call from a family member. That person informed them that José had been diagnosed with renal failure. According to Healthline, renal failure, also known as acute kidney failure, stops the organs from filtering "toxins from the blood," and can happen for various reasons. The website also states that renal failure is curable if the "cause of the decreased blood flow is determined." If not, it can be fatal.

Guillermo Rojer talking on a confessional in 90 Day Fiance Season 9

During a confessional, Kara shared that her husband's brother had been going through "some dialysis" for about a year. She added that it wasn't until "things really took a turn for the worse" that everything got serious. Guillermo received the heartbreaking call the next morning, which confirmed that his brother José had passed away. Since the brothers were close, it was the "worst" thing that Guillermo couldn't travel back to the Dominican Republic to say his final goodbye. As the new 90 Day Fiancé cast member was on a K-1 visa, he was legally forced to stay in the United States, and leaving would've postponed his wedding.

While the tragedy hurt Guillermo terribly, he seems to be doing well lately. The couple's social media activities show that they're having good experiences with each other, and enjoying their married life. Last month, Kara shared a cute dancing video with her shirtless husband, while some time ago, Guillermo shared an adorable photo with their dog. Since some of their posts have a Charlottesville, Virginia location tag, it seems like the couple is still in the States, and possibly living in Virginia. Hopefully, the pair will soon share more about what's going on in their lives with 90 Day Fiancé viewers.
