Gizelle Bryant shocked fans when she tried reconciling with her ex-husband Jamal Bryant last season. But The Real Housewives of Potomac star is entering the new season as a single woman. She recently broke her silence on her latest breakup with the Atlanta-based megachurch leader.

Jamal was thrown into the fire during one of the most scathing reads in Housewives history. Monique Samuels unleashed her fury on Gizelle and her "pastor boyfriend" Jamal. Gizelle has been transparent about divorcing Jamal back in 2009 due to him cheating on her with women within the church congregation. The two continued to co-parent their three daughters over the years and had been trying out a long-distance relationship. After Monique blasted their romance and accused Jamal of dating another woman on the side, fans wondered if Gizelle would finally leave Jamal for good.

Ahead of the season six premiere next month, Gizelle isn't hiding her relationship status with Jamal. She recently explained why their long-distance relationship was impossible to maintain. “He lives in Atlanta. I live here in Maryland and we were going through a pandemic. And you just really can’t have a long-distance pandemic relationship. That just don’t work,” Gizelle shared on E! News’ Nightly Pop. “But we are still the best of friends, in each other’s lives, there’s no issues.”

The Bravo's Chat Room host noted, “Jamal is family for life." Viewers questioned how genuine her reconciliation with Jamal was. The two rarely filmed together and, when they did, it looked like they were just spending time with their daughters and not sharing any PDA of their own. But Gizelle says their history goes back too far for there to be no love there. “I’ve known Jamal 25 years," she said. "People have had issues and commentary and things to say about him forever. I know who and what he is. I know what our relationship is. So it didn’t play a part [in our split]."

Gizelle claims their breakup is only because they "couldn’t see each other. So it just didn’t make sense.” But after Monique accused Jamal of cheating on the reunion, many fans were convinced that Gizelle and Jamal's rekindled flame was for a storyline. Jamal clapped back at Monique with a book of his own receipts, but it was nothing like what Monique unleashed before her show exit. Viewers will have to wait and see who will be the first man to catch Gizelle's attention in the aftermath of her split.
