Fans are noticing the common denominator at the root of the majority of Candiace Dillard's feuds on The Real Housewives of Potomac and now think Candiace's anger is misdirected. While she's currently engaged in a messy back and forth with Mia Thornton, viewers are calling out the person who actually ignited their quarrel. Candiace's mother Dorothy was the one who went to Candiace's music video shoot and gossiped about her son-in-law Chris Bassett. When looking back at many of Candiace's cast quarrels, the drama largely stems from issues with her mother.
Viewers have watched Candiace and Dorothy attend family counseling and work to get to a more respectful place as mother and daughter. Dorothy had a strong hold over Candiace's life during her show debut. While she was engaged to Chris at the time and managing her own hair business, Dorothy still helped pay Candiace's mortgage and had a lot of control over her decisions. It was a challenge for Candiace to break away from her mother and start adulting on her own. After getting married, she and Chris moved into their own home and have been paying their own bills. But the drama with her mother is often up for debate among the other housewives.
It's clear Dorothy still hasn't fully embraced her son-in-law. During Candiace's video shoot, Dorothy arrived and had a good time bad-mouthing Chris to the other ladies. Dorothy criticized Chris' role as Candiace's manager and his career as a chef. While Karen Huger refused to engage in the gossip, Mia was all ears and even asked a few questions about whether or not Chris gets paid to be Candiace's manager. Once Candiace found out, she unleashed her fury on Mia and the two have been locked in a messy war on the show and social media. However, a number of fans are wondering why Candiace hasn't publicly called out her mother for being the initial one who talked poorly about her husband.
In the past, Candiace has gotten into shouting matches with the likes of Ashley Darby over the house her mother paid for. It was while kicking Ashley out of her old house that Ashley made mention of the house being paid for by Dorothy. Candiace became so enraged that she grabbed a knife and threatened Ashley with it. However, it was another instance where Candiace became upset over an issue that stemmed from her mother. She has become offended when anyone questions her cash flow and wealth. However, when looking at how hard she's worked to break away from her mom's shadow, it's understandable that she's sensitive about who funds her lifestyle.
Many fans and spectators believe Candiace's anger with her castmates is misdirected. While Mia and Ashley have definitely done their fair share of shade-throwing, Candiace becomes more upset whenever she's criticized about issues related to her mother. Candiace is upset at Mia and the two ladies are not friends at the moment. But it makes many speculate on how or if Candiace addressed what her mother said about Chris. Mia is guilty, but so is Ms. Dorothy – Candiace can't deny that. But, of course, The Real Housewives of Potomac star is going to stick beside her mother.
