Fans of The Real Housewives of New York may want to take a seat because another big cast firing may be in the works. It is rumored that original cast member Ramona Singer might be getting the boot from the franchise. This news follows Kelly Dodd's recent firing from The Real Housewives of Orange County. Both housewives were known to be problematic during their time on the hit Bravo shows and, if the rumors are true, Ramona will take the firing just like Kelly did – not well.
Ramona is the only remaining OG housewife that has been a full-time cast member of The Real Housewives of New York throughout the show's entirety. The "turtle time" housewife has brought the drama every season. But for the past few installments, her problematic behavior has turned more dismissive rather than entertaining. During season 12 of RHONY, Ramona took in rookie cast member Leah McSweeney but quickly attempted to shut her out of the group once she discovered Leah's vibrant party-girl behavior. In the most recent season, the show's first-ever black housewife, Eboni K. Williams, joined the cast. While the rest of the cast was open to participating in discussions regarding social and racial issues, Ramona attempted to shut down those conversations completely. Ramona even told Eboni that she shouldn't feel the pressure of being the first black RHONY housewife and to "ignore the press."
The singer stinger may now be stung by RHONY. It is rumored that her time as a cast member may be coming to an end. According to a report by Radar Online, Ramona's "time is up." A source told Radar, "Ramona will not be invited back to the next season of the show, which is currently not in production, for a couple of reasons." The source continued, "One, she is too expensive. She is the only lady that has been on the show from day one and her salary reflects it." The report also states that insiders claim Bravo already parted ways with Ramona but will not "officially" announce the firing just yet.
Ramona's controversial behavior is also the root of her firing. A source told Radar, "The basic premise of the show doesn’t work anymore. A bunch of older white women behaving badly was fun a decade ago but not today. The world has changed and if the show wants to survive another decade it must change too and that starts with the cast.” Apparently, the OG housewife is having trouble wrapping her head around the fact that her behavior, which once got her more camera time, is now the reason she is allegedly getting the boot.
Throughout her thirteen seasons on The Real Housewives of New York, Ramona has switched lanes from a problematic and entertaining reality star to an angry and dismissive cast member. She has given the show great one-liners and tons of controversy, but it seems like she doesn't click with any of her co-stars anymore, including best friend, Sonja Morgan. One thing is for sure, fans will be sure to grab their popcorn and watch the drama go down on social media if these reports are true.
