In the two seasons that The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been on the air, Mary Cosby has shown signs of not being happy in her marriage with Robert Cosby Sr. A recent episode saw Mary reveal her worries for their son to move out because she isn't used to being around her husband without their son. Mary expressed disappointment when discussing her marriage. According to Mary, her marriage with Robert Sr. revolves solely around their son Robert Jr. If their son isn't around, Mary and Robert Sr. will be forced to face the reality of their awkward dynamic as a couple.

Mary's marriage took center stage in season 1 after she educated viewers on the oddities surrounding her relationship. Mary says it was "God's will" that she followed her dying grandmother's wish and married her step-grandfather. Robert Sr. was her grandmother's second husband. The family inherited a church and multiple businesses that they didn't want to lose after her grandmother's passing. Mary admitted to facing opposition from her own mother in marrying Robert Sr, but 20 years later, the couple is still together. Their teenage son Robert Jr. is growing up and getting ready to move out, but Mary is worried his absence will leave her and Robert Sr. with too much alone time.

The concern shows just how unhappy Mary truly is in her marriage. In the scene, Mary admitted to wishing she could change her husband to be the man she wants him to be. "I could be wrong for this but I would change Robert Sr.,” Mary said in a confessional. “I would just, like, change him, the whole person, to what I want in him that I don’t get.” She went on to list Robert Sr.'s characteristics that annoy her the most. "You want him to say, ‘[I’m] sorry,’ you want him to be passionate, you want him to just be alive,” Mary complained. Additionally, Mary shared she and Robert Sr. sleep in separate rooms.

The confession comes after Mary admitted to being attracted to white men and not being intimate with her husband for years. During the season one reunion, Mary told the cast her husband isn't her type and she prefers men outside of her race. "My taste of Black guys — that’s not my taste…," she told Andy Cohen. After he reminded her that she's married to a Black man, Mary said she considers Robert Sr. as "white....well, I mean lighter," she said. "He’s black but my preference is lighter guys," Mary confessed before saying how much she loves being Black. When asked if she's in love with her husband, Mary said, "I absolutely think I am."

Mary's marriage is just one of the many oddities surrounding her life that leave fans scratching their heads. Mary's facing accusations of running a cult at her church and has made seemingly racist statements against Black people despite being Black herself. She's not ashamed to express her unhappiness with married life on the show. But the last thing Mary will do is give up her role as First Lady. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City wouldn't be the same without Mary's bizarre lifestyle.
