During the Wednesday, December 9 episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Mary Cosby was under fire after Jen Shah revealed Mary made an off-color comment about fearing convenience stores.

Since the new Bravo reality series aired in November, both Mary and Jen have made quite the impact on the show and its fans. Right out of the gate, the co-stars got into a huge fight, and it has been a difficult journey attempting to get these two to a good place. Unfortunately, Wednesday night's episode did not help their friendship in the slightest.

Mary was accused by Jen of anti-Black racism after Jen remembered a weird comment Mary made about convenience stores. Mary said she avoids 7-Eleven if she sees Black people there. The comment was brought up during Mary's odd Met Gala-themed luncheon, where Jen revealed the information to the other four ladies at the table. Mary did not deny she made the comment and even doubled-down in her confessional that she has a "fear" of 7-Elevens, adding, “My mind just automatically goes violent when it comes to convenience stores.” This was an odd comment for Mary to make, as she herself is Black. Jen was deeply offended by Mary's comment because her husband, Sharieff Shah, and her two children, Omar and Sharieff Jr., are all Black. She was also offended by Mary's use of the words "ghetto" and "hoodlum" because of their derogatory history.  “If you look at the history, those are used in a derogatory manner to make people feel less than,” Jen explained. “Don’t do that. You’re not better than anybody else, Mary.”

But outside of her many issues, what really bothered Jen was Mary's comment about the convenience store. Coming from a mixed-race family, Jen explained it hurts her to hear someone say they would afraid of someone who looks like her own relatives. “Guess what? That’s my son, my nephew, my family that’s at that 7-Eleven that you won’t go to because you’re too good," Jen added. She could not sit there and listen to what Mary had to say, so she got up and left the luncheon early. Later on in the episode, Jen told Sharieff about Mary's comment, to which he replied, “Interracial issues are real. There are Black folks that don’t like other Black folks and say racist comments all the time.” Jen interjected saying she would bring harm to someone who did that to her son, but her husband was able to calm her down.

Will Jen be able to forgive Mary for her inappropriate comments? Keeping watching every week to find out the status of Mary and Jen's friendship.
