After news broke that Erika Jayne from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills filed for divorce from Tom Girardi after 21 years together, an old interview with Erika resurfaced where she revealed that she did not sign a prenup.
Erika joined the cast of RHOBH back in 2015 for the sixth season of the reality series. She was immediately beloved by fans of the show and even her fellow cast members. The reality star was grilled for being married to a man 32 years her senior, but the love that they portrayed on the show seemed to be one that was honest and true. Fans are understandably shocked by the news of their divorce, as this is something no one really saw coming.
According to People, the 49 year old revealed on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in 2017 that she did not sign a prenuptial agreement. The reality star revealed that, even if the former couple did get one, it would not be of much use. "I'm married to a very powerful lawyer," Erika said at the time. "A prenup wouldn't stand in his way anyway. So it doesn't matter whether you had one or you didn't, it's going to be all Tom's way, I assure you. He'll rip that piece of paper to shreds in two seconds!"
The Pretty Mess author filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years on Tuesday, November 3rd, according to recent court documents. She revealed in a statement, "After much consideration, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi. This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together." Erika continued, "I request others give us that privacy as well." Erika and Tom were married in 1999 after meeting just one year earlier. Although their marriage has come to an end, the pair clearly had a strong love for each other to be married for over 20 years. Tom was there for Erika and her 26 year old son, Thomas, whom she shared with ex-husband, Tommy Zizzo. His love for her family will hopefully never change.
Even though there was no prenup in place for the couple, Tom will happily provide for Erika and her son. The couple shared not only a great love for one another, but also a strong friendship. While they may no longer be in love, Erika will always be family to Tom.
