Warning! Spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon season 1, episode 6.Matt Smith teases a big twist coming up in House of the Dragon episode 7. Taking place nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, HBO's new hit fantasy series chronicles the onset of the Targaryen civil war. House of the Dragon has earned rave reviews from audiences and critics alike so far, who praise the show's writing and strong performances. In contrast to Game of Thrones' somewhat slower season 1 pace, House of the Dragon has featured a number of significant events already, with house Targaryen quickly falling into turmoil after King Viserys (Paddy Considine) names his daughter heir to the Iron Throne.

Episode 6 of House of the Dragon picks up 10 years after episode 5, with Rhaenyra and Alicent, previously played by Milly Alcock and Emily Carey, respectively, now played by Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke. The latest episode features a number of major developments, with the rift between Rhaenyra and Alicent having only grown after the shocking events of Rhaenyra's wedding in episode 5. Smith's Daemon loses his wife, Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), and Larys (Matthew Needham) arranges the death of both Harwin (Ryan Corr) and Lyonel Strong (Gavin Spokes). The trailer for House of the Dragon episode 7 teases that there will be even more friction between Rhaenyra and Alicent, and now Smith weighs in on what audiences can expect.

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Smith teases that House of the Dragon episode 7 will feature a major "oh s--t" moment. Although the actor doesn't provide any hints about what exciting twists are to come, he does say that there are several big moments coming up, with one, in particular, coming next week in episode 7. Check out Smith's full comment below:

“Look, without giving too much away, I think… What are the ‘oh shit’ moments? There’s a couple coming up. There’s one actually in episode 7, I think.”

What Surprises Does House of the Dragon Have Planned For Episode 7?

House of the Dragon episode 6 Olivia Cooke as older Alicent Hightower

With the dynamic between Rhaenyra and Alicent at an all-time low, House of the Dragon's episode 7 trailer has already teased a physical confrontation between the two. Whether the moment Smith is referring to is the confrontation between Rhaenyra and Alicent itself or the fallout from the confrontation, however, remains to be seen. It's unclear just how big of a blow-out the two characters will have, but it could mean that the shadowy political battles they've been having finally become actual battles, with supporting characters forced to take sides.

By comparison, House of the Dragon has already featured quite a few more action scenes than Game of Thrones did in its first season. Although Game of Thrones certainly ups the ante in later seasons as tensions between characters turn into full-blown wars, House of the Dragon has already seen a number of characters meet grisly and surprising ends. Smith's answer gives nothing away in terms of what twist might be in store for audiences, but it's possible that House of the Dragon fans will be saying goodbye to another major character when episode 7 releases next week.
