Between them, these actors have some exciting projects on the horizon, including a sci-fi thriller sending Driver to a mysterious alien planet and a Marvel supervillain movie starring Leto as a “living vampire.”

Al Pacino - Hunters Season 2 (TBD)

Al Pacino gives a wonderfully eccentric turn as Uncle Aldo in House of Gucci. Since he considers his own son to be a huge disappointment, Aldo gets overinvolved in his nephew’s life with his new spouse. This leads to some of the movie’s most memorable moments.

Pacino began playing his first leading role in an ongoing episodic TV series in 2020. In Amazon’s Hunters, Pacino leads an ensemble of Nazi hunters in ‘70s New York in the role of Meyer Offerman. The first season was released to critical acclaim and impressive viewership, so Amazon promptly commissioned a second one for an unspecified release date.

Adam Driver - 65 (April 22, 2022)

Adam Driver’s House of Gucci role as Maurizio Gucci, the wayward heir who drives the company into the ground before being murdered in a hit ordered by his estranged wife, is his second appearance in a Ridley Scott movie this year. He previously played the sadistic Jacques Le Gris in Scott’s historical epic The Last Duel opposite Matt Damon, Jodie Comer, and Ben Affleck.

The actor’s next starring vehicle is a sci-fi thriller written and directed by A Quiet Place creators Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. 65 will star Driver as an astronaut who crash-lands on a mysterious planet and learns that he’s not alone.

Jared Leto - Morbius (January 28, 2022)

Jared Leto gives easily one of the most daring and memorable performances in House of Gucci as the family’s resident buffoon, Paolo Gucci. He’s unrecognizable under thick layers of makeup and prosthetics as he brings an endearing goofball quality to all his scenes.

Leto’s next film project is a much different beast. Morbius is a Marvel supervillain movie set in Sony’s Venom universe. Leto will play the title character, a Spider-Man villain who accidentally turns himself into a vampire while trying to cure his rare blood disease.

Jack Huston - Expats (TBD)

Jack Huston doesn’t play a member of the Gucci family, but with relations to Walter Huston, John Huston, and Anjelica Huston, he’s a part of his own legendary dynasty. In House of Gucci, Huston plays the Gucci family’s long-time assistant Domenico De Sole, who usurps them when the business starts to go under and he spies an opportunity.

Huston will next be seen co-starring with Nicole Kidman in Expats. Set to premiere on Prime Video, Expats is a drama series focused on an expatriate community.

Adam Driver - White Noise (2022)

After forging a strong working relationship with Ridley Scott this year, Adam Driver is reuniting with his earliest recurring directorial collaborator, Noah Baumbach, for the Netflix original movie White Noise. This will mark Driver’s fifth collaboration with Baumbach. Their last movie, Marriage Story, earned Driver an Oscar nod for Best Actor.

Set for an undisclosed release date in 2022, White Noise will star Driver as a professor of Hitler studies whose world is rocked by “the Airborne Toxic Event.” Driver’s co-stars include Greta Gerwig (who previously shared the screen with Driver in Baumbach’s slice-of-life gem Frances Ha) and Don Cheadle.

Jeremy Irons - Cello (TBD)

Irons will star alongside Tobin Bell, best known as the Jigsaw killer from the Saw movies. Shot in Saudi Arabia by regular Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman, Cello revolves around a budding cellist who learns the shocking cost of his cello.

While Expats is providing Huston with a lucrative TV role, he’s not leaving movies behind for good. He’s set to appear in Wash Me in the River, a new thriller starring Robert De Niro and John Malkovich.

The premise sounds like a modern-day exploitation actioner: a recovering opioid addict seeks vengeance against the dealers responsible for the addiction that caused his fiancé’s death.

Jared Leto - Adrift (TBD)

After making his Marvel debut as Morbius the Living Vampire, Jared Leto will reteam with his Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky for the Blumhouse horror movie Adrift.

An interesting plot summary was provided by Deadline: “The story is set in the dead calm of the open sea, where a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call. A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it’s towed into port, but he soon discovers why the rest of his more experienced crew members call it a ‘Ghost Ship.’”
