Salma Hayek joined the cast of Ridley Scott's upcoming film, The House of Gucci. Scott first began developing the project in 2006 but eventually parted ways with it in 2012 before signing on again in 2019. The film depicts the murder of Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani and the aftermath of his murder. The film stars Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci and Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani.

According to Deadline, Hayek has now joined the cast in the role of Pina Auriemma. Pina Auriemma is a friend of Patrizia Reggiani and a clairvoyant. Hayek rounds out an all-star cast of actors that include Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, and Reeve Carney. The film is currently set to release on November 24, 2021, as one of two Scott movies aiming for awards consideration alongside The Last Duel.

The House of Gucci is one of many major projects Hayek is slated to appear in 2021. She kicked off the year with the Amazon Prime film Bliss co-starring Owen Wilson. Her next film, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard recently moved its release date up to June 16, 2021. Hayek will then be seen next as one of the stars in Marvel's Eternals as Ajax, the Eternals leader. Following that The House of Gucci will open in theaters just in time for the beginning of awards season. 2021 will be a big year for Hayek, and it appears the actress isn't slowing down anytime soon.
