2012's House at the End of the Street starred Jennifer Lawrence as the neighbor to a home where murders happened, but will it ever get a sequel? Despite only being 29-years-old, Lawrence is already an Oscar-winning A-lister, as well as the star of such hit franchises as The Hunger Games and X-Men. One of her first leading film roles actually came courtesy of House at the End of the Street, although oddly enough, it ended up being released after several others that were shot later.

House at the End of the Street was completed in 2010, but for reasons unclear, sat on a shelf for two years before finally being released to theaters by Relativity Media in 2012. While its reviews were far from glowing, moviegoers responded more positively to House at the End of the Street, leading to a #1 box office debut. The film ultimately grossed $44 million, which may not seem like much, but represented a huge profit on its $10 million budget.

Currently available on Netflix, House at the End of the Street is continuing to gain more fans through streaming and home video, leading many to wonder if a sequel might ever be in the cards. Here's what we think, based on the information available.

House At The End Of The Street 2: Will It Happen?

Elissa and Ryan in House at the End of the Street

It's been nearly eight years since House at the End of the Street released in theaters, and so far, there's been no murmurings of a sequel happening. That's a bit surprising, due to the aforementioned fact that the film made millions in profit. One wonders if the lack of activity surrounding a possible House at the End of the Street 2 has to do with the financial turmoil Relativity Media has spent the last few years in, declaring bankruptcy not once but twice. If a sequel ever does happen though, one can bet Jennifer Lawrence won't return, as she doesn't seem to count the original as a top entry on her resume.

What House At The End Of The Street 2 Could Be About

Ryan in House at the End of the Street

House at the End of the Street's ending revealed that Ryan (Max Thieriot), the love interest of Lawrence's Elissa character, and supposedly the brother of the film's central murderer, was in fact the killer all along. It turns out his sister Carrie-Anne had died when they were kids, and his distraught mother had made him become her, as an alternate personality. It's a very Sleepaway Camp-esque twist, and since Ryan survives, the door is certainly open for him to escape the mental hospital he ends up in and target new victims, possibly back at the titular house. As mentioned, it's doubtful Lawrence comes back, so Ryan going after Elissa again in House at the End of the Street 2 would require a recasting.
