House of the Dragon episode 7 images show the characters gathering for a funeral. After five episodes of setup, House of the Dragon episode 6 featured the show's long-awaited 10-year time jump, bringing the multi-generational tale a major step closer to the Targaryen civil war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons. Episode 6's time jump resulted in multiple recastings, including Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra and Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent, and found many main characters in drastically different situations.

Episode 6 begins in King's Landing with Rhaenyra giving birth to her third boy, Joffrey, and it is an open secret that Ser Harwin Strong is the father of Rhaenyra's children and not her husband, Laenor. Frustrated with King Viserys' refusal to recognize that Rhaenyra's children are bastards, Alicent confides to Larys Strong that she wishes her father, Ser Otto, was still the Hand of the King in order to provide her support. To prove his usefulness to the Queen, Larys orchestrates the fiery deaths of his own father, current Hand Lord Lyonel Strong, and his brother, Ser Harwin. Meanwhile, Daemon visits Pentos with his pregnant wife and two daughters, Baela and Rhaena. After suffering complications during childbirth, Laena chooses to die by Vhagar's dragonfire.

What To Expect From House of the Dragon Episode 7

Based on this batch of images that show the Targaryens and Velaryons coming together for Laena's funeral, fans should expect a somber and mournful episode. The Game of Thrones franchise is known to properly deal with the weight and impact of the deaths it depicts, so don't expect the upcoming episode to simply gloss over them. It also remains to be seen how the show deals with Lyonel and Harwin's deaths, which will likely impact Viserys and Rhaenyra the most. The handsome Knight known as Breakbones was the Princess' paramour for the past decade, and Lyonel loyally served the King as his Hand during that same time.

The images also reveal the return of Ser Otto who was absent for the previous episode. With Lyonel out of the picture, Otto will resume his post as Hand of the King, just as Larys intended. Though House of the Dragon episode 7 should begin with a mournful tone, it shouldn't take long before the accusations of treason and bloodshed begin to heat up again.

House of the Dragon releases new episodes Sundays on HBO.
