Guerilla Games has released a new patch for the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn, which fixes a well-known problem where players were unable to walk in a straight line during gameplay. The action-RPG was originally released in 2017 had previously been exclusive to the PlayStation 4 but a  long-awaited PC port finally launched in August of this year.

Almost immediately after Horizon Zero Dawn became available, fans encountered a wide range of bugs and technical issues. The problem grew so bad that users soon began to review bomb the title on Steam, affecting the rating of the game on the digital store. Developer Guerilla Games quickly moved to reassure players that it was fully concentrating on fixing these problems before working on other projects. Since then, it has released a series of updates and patches that have fixed some, but not all, of the issues.

A new patch has arrived for Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, bringing with it a number of fixes and enhancements. According to Guerilla Games, the patch should solve many of the biggest known issues with the game that fans have been most vocal about. This includes preventing crashing when users open the control mapping menu, fixing frame rate issues when the game is running in Ultimate Quality mode, and solving performance issues during several questions. However, by far the best fix in the update is that players can now walk in a straight line. Guerilla explained that "Aloy now walks directly towards the direction the camera is facing when you press forward, rather than at a slight angle" as had been reported by many users.

In addition to carrying on the development of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, Guerilla Games is also working on a sequel to the highly-acclaimed title. The developer announced Horizon Forbidden West. While very little has been shown of the game, it has become one of the anticipated PlayStation 5 games that have been revealed so far. Even before the sequel was announced, fans had been speculating that it was already in the works.

Guerilla Games has had a tough time since releasing Horizon Zero Dawn for PC. There has been a wide range of technical issues and bugs, preventing many players from being able to enjoy it properly. Hopefully, the latest patch is a big step towards fixing the biggest problems, such as the walking issue. That should mean the PC port is much more desirable in the future.
