Guerrilla Games has revealed the release date of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC and detailed the new features that players have been requesting ever since the title was first announced. The studio has previously detailed some of the exclusive PC extras players would get with the Complete Edition. These include the expansion Frozen Wilds, a digital artbook, and extra outfits and weapons.

Horizon Zero Dawn is the first PlayStation 4 exclusive developed by a first-party studio to be ported to PC. The original game follows a character called Aloy in a post-apocalyptic future where large robotic creatures rule Earth and humans now live in a series of small tribes. It went on to become one of the most successful titles on the console and received widespread critical acclaim for its story, gameplay, and presentation. The franchise has since expanded into comic books and other forms of media over the last few years.

A YouTube video posted by Guerrilla Games has announced the release date of the PC edition of Horizon Zero Dawn as well as giving players a glimpse at the new features added to this version. Most notable among the additional features is a range of graphical enhancements. This includes support for ultra-wide resolutions, dynamic foliage, and improved reflections. The PC edition will also allow for unlocked framerates and a wide array of customization settings, along with a benchmarking tool so players can see exactly how well their setups are handling the game.

A PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn has seemingly been in the works for some time. Sony's head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, Hermen Hulst, had previously spoken about the importance of allowing more players to experience PlayStation titles. Fans of the series also got more good news earlier in the month, when Sony and Guerilla Games announced a sequel was in the works for the PlayStation 5. Horizon Forbidden West will continue the plot from the first game and once again feature Aloy as the main character.

Seeing how much work has gone into Horizon Zero Dawn for PC is refreshing to see. Console exclusives that eventually come to PC are often nothing more than straightforward ports with no additional features or improvements. Players who have long been requesting the game on the platform are sure to be happy with the extra graphical enhancements. Meanwhile, the new controller settings and customization options will also be welcomed by those who haven't yet had the chance to try out the game.
