Overriding the Tallneck in the Stillsands will unlock more of the map in Horizon Forbidden West. As Aloy explores this brave new world it's entirely up to her to discover what lies behind the Forbidden West. A plague is killing everything in its path and it's up to Aloy to find and stop the source of it. Along the way, she'll unlock new ways to override machines, turning them from enemies into temporary allies. Many of these can be deadly while others just make it easier to explore the map.

With well over 40 machines in Horizon Forbidden West, the Tallneck leans more on the passive side. There are six of them in total throughout the Forbidden West and every time Aloy overrides one, the flog will clear out from the map. To get the entire map, it's highly encouraged to override every Tallneck in the game. Although, it's not as simple as just approaching them and calling it a day. Since Tallnecks are so high up, there's a specific way for players to tackle them.

To clear out the Tallneck in the Stillstands, the player will first need to find the satellite dish. Since the Tallneck is so high-up, the player will need to start climbing this first to start to make their way to the top. There will be a yellow larger with a red lock on it. Shoot at it and start making the way up. First, they'll be a few consoles that Aloy can power down. Keep heading up through the middle and there will be another ladder to shoot down. This time, climb down this ladder down to a small edge with a power cell. Now grab it and head back down to the ground.

Horizon Forbidden West How To override The Tallneck in the Stillsands Location

There will be a battery slot underneath where the satellite dish is in Horizon Forbidden West. Place the power cell inside of the slot to turn it back on and head back towards the top of the console to activate it. With the satellite dish now in motion, there will be wires that Aloy will need to break using her spear. Alternatively, she can also use her bow and arrow to clear them out. Continue to the top of the rest of the dish and prepare to run and jump towards the Tallneck.

At the peak of the jump, break out the Shieldwing glider to reach the top of it. Make sure to properly space out that jump since missing it will cost tons of time. Now, just override it using the triangle button and more of the map will be available. Make sure to clear out every Tallneck to 100% complete the game. Not only is it helpful for exploration, but it's actually required to platinum this title.
