A new rumor suggests that Horizon Forbidden West’s long-discussed DLC expansion could be revealed soon. This year’s post-apocalyptic open-world sequel continued the story of Aloy as she traveled into the titular Forbidden West to restore a terraforming AI and uncover more about the world that came before. While it may have been overshadowed by Elden Ring at launch, fans have been eager to dive back into Horizon Forbidden West in a new DLC storyline.News of Horizon Forbidden West's DLC campaign may be on the way, according to a new rumor. Twitter gaming leaker The Snitch recently posted a cryptic image featuring San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles (via Insider Gaming). In the world of Horizon Forbidden West, these real-life locations have become the Burning Shores, and this image could be a sign that the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West DLC will take Aloy there. Additionally, Insider Gaming believes that this Horizon Forbidden West expansion may launch in April 2023.
Horizon Forbidden West DLC - What The Burning Shores Are
The Burning Shores were briefly mentioned a couple of times in Horizon Forbidden West, and were described as a “place of flames and brine” located south of the Spinebreak. Players who try to journey to this location in-game are told to “turn back,” though eagle-eyed travelers can spot the remains of Memorial Bridge and Hoover Dam while riding on the back of Horizon Forbidden West’s mountable Sunwing machine.
The possibility of Horizon Forbidden West DLC was teased before the game's launch in February. Since then, a few of the talented actors behind the game have hinted that they are working on something new for the title, starting with an enticing social media post from Aloy’s mocap actress. Lance Reddick, who plays the mysterious and villainous Sylens in both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, also teased work on the DLC, though he later deleted his social media post.
Many players feel that a new Horizon Forbidden West DLC is needed to keep the game relevant, and it seems like Guerilla Games could be getting ready to reveal it soon. All signs seem to point to it taking place in the Burning Shores, although it's worth noting that nothing official has been announced yet. The often teased Horizon Forbidden West DLC could even be confirmed during The Game Awards 2022 event later this week.
