The Game Awards has revealed a new trailer for Hood: Outlaws & Legends, showing an engaging blend of stealth gameplay and visceral close-quarters combat. Focus Home Interactive's newest game is a PvPvE title that lets players carry out daring medieval heists inspired by the feats of the legendary outlaw Robin Hood.

The new game was revealed back in August during a PlayStation State of Play event, and the setting and premise did a lot to drum up interest. Robin Hood is a very enduring figure in popular culture; he's undergone a lot of different iterations and interpretations over the years, and just about everyone knows his name and could probably list at least one of the amazing feats which are attributed to him throughout the history of fiction. A game which channels that legend and gives players a chance to live out that fantasy for themselves is an intriguing prospect for sure, and one that a lot of players responded to.

During the Game Awards this year, prospective players got a great look at what they can expect from this medieval adventure. Hood: Outlaws & Legends will challenge players to take part in multiplayer heists as they bleed the corrupt monarchy dry. Players will be assigned various tasks to grab the riches for themselves, such as pickpocketing a key from the sheriff, and, of course, making off with the loot. The trailer showed a lot of stealth takedowns which were very reminiscent of the Assassin's Creed series, but from the looks of things, players won't always be able to avoid open combat. A healthy variety of weapons, like hammers, bows, and daggers, were displayed during fights, with look brutal, and call to mind intense games like For Honor and Chivalry. Fans can expect to play the game for themselves as early as March 7th if they preorder; check out the trailer below, courtesy of IGN:

This was far from the only surprise the Game Awards had in store for viewers. It wasn't the only surprise for fans of medieval fantasy, either; players can also look forward to a new Elder Scrolls Online expansion, as well as Crimson Desert, a new game from the makers of Black Desert Online. BioWare also turned up to drop a trailer for the new Dragon Age game, which has surprisingly dropped the number four from its name and gone only as Dragon Age and nothing more.

It's certainly been an exciting night for gaming fans. The show brought something for everyone, and plenty of thrilling surprises to boot, including the reveal of the new Super Smash Bros. fighter, Sephiroth. It was a great way for fans to come together at the close of a difficult year and celebrate the amazing games that have been released during 2020, and to anticipate the exciting new games that 2021 will bring. For aspiring thieves and miscreants, Hood: Outlaws & Legends is definitely one to watch.
