A new trailer for Home Sweet Home Alone shines a spotlight on the myriad of different burglar traps featured in the film. The sixth film in the Home Alone franchise (yes, there are six of these) shifts the focus to a new child named Max Mercer (Archie Yates) who is accidentally left behind by his family when they leave for a holiday vacation to Tokyo. While home alone during his family's trip, Max defends his home from a married duo of burglars who hope to make off with a cherished Mercer family heirloom.

The first trailer for Home Sweet Home Alone was released just over three weeks ago, and it received a very negative reaction from fans of the beloved holiday franchise. Currently, the trailer has around 85,000 dislikes on YouTube with only 21,000 likes. The new Home Alone film will be released exclusively on Disney+ on November 12th to coincide with Disney+ Day, a Disney celebration of two years since the streaming service launched. In addition to Home Sweet Home Alone, films such as Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings and Jungle Cruise will make their streaming debut on Disney+, along with a new Luca-inspired Pixar short called Ciao Alberto and a new series of Frozen shorts titled Olaf Presents.

Today, 20th Century Studios released the new trailer for Home Sweet Home Alone, and it provides plenty of burglar-stopping action. Throughout the quick one-minute trailer, the burglars Pam (Ellie Kemper) and Jeff Fritzovski (Rob Delaney) are seen taking quite the beatdown. They slip and fall on a frozen driveway, Pam not only steps on Legos but falls onto a floor covered in them, and Jeff is shot in the forehead with a pool ball. Additionally, they are hit with doors, sprayed with soda, and at one point, Jeff bounces off a broken trampoline and smacks directly into a tree. Check out the new trailer below:

Though the trailer is primarily focused on highlighting the torture Max will be putting these two goons through, there are a few moments that showcase what the rest of the film has to offer. Kenan Thompson shows up to make a couple of quips as a character named Gavin, and Timothy Simons' character Hunter is briefly shown throwing a snowball at Jeff before laughing at him. One character that is notably absent from the first trailer is Buzz McCallister (Devin Ratray), Kevin McCallister's older brother who will be returning as a police officer in this film.

Home Sweet Home Alone looks to be decent fun for the family, but as of yet, it doesn't appear to be quite on the same level of quality as the first two Home Alone films. Maybe it will be a surprisingly solid installment in this franchise, but it doesn't seem likely. It is understandable why this film was made though, as Disney acquired the series following their purchase of 20th Century Fox several years ago. The studio had to at least try to revive the series in order to find out if there was any life left in it. The result seems to be a movie that is best served as a direct-to-streaming feature, rather than a theatrically released movie. It'll probably be popular with kids, which is honestly all it really needs to be.
