The original house from Home Alone has been listed on Airbnb by Kevin McCallister's brother. The latest entry in the franchise, Home Sweet Home Alone, premiered on Disney+ on November 12. This is the newest of a series of promotions Airbnb has been putting on lately, allowing the real-life filming locations from movies to be rented for a limited time. Just in the last few months, fans have been able to rent Stu's house from Scream, Carrie's apartment from Sex and the City, and the Italian villa from House of Gucci.

Home Alone, which premiered in 1990, follows Macaulay Culkin's character, Kevin, as he defends his family's home against a pair of burglars known as the Wet Bandits. His attempts to deter them include a variety of handmade booby traps that put actors Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci through the physical comedy wringer. The film takes place almost exclusively in the McCallister household, making it a truly iconic movie location.

There is now a listing on Airbnb ostensibly posted by Kevin McCallister's older brother that will allow users to book a one-night stay in the original Home Alone house. Fans will have the opportunity to rent the Chicago home (alone or with a group) on December 12, 2021. They will also be presented with a Home Alone-themed LEGO set, and in honor of this special listing, Airbnb will be making a donation to Chicago’s La Rabida Children’s Hospital. The booking will be officially open on December 7 at 1 PM C.T. Because this listing is not a contest, it will go to the lucky person who's able to click a millisecond before everyone else.

There is an important reason that this listing is posted by his brother rather than Kevin himself. The way that Home Sweet Home Alone proves its connection to the original film is via a cameo from Devin Ratray as Buzz McCallister. Ratray, who has since appeared in various films like Nebraska and R.I.P.D. and series including Agent Carter and The Tick, made an early appearance in Home Alone, later reprising the role in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Buzz is now a cop, who is pranked every year by his brother Kevin who phones in a fake report of a child being left home alone.

The surprisingly expansive Home Alone franchise has legions of fans. Those who want the opportunity to spend a night in this piece of movie history will have to prepare for an intense morning in front of their computers. Although the chances of getting this opportunity are slim, somebody has to win, and hopefully they post a full account of their experience online for everyone else to live vicariously.
