Warning: SPOILERS for Holmes and Watson
The new comedic take on the tales of Sherlock Holmes, Holmes and Watson, sees the launch of the Titanic and features a surprise cameo from Titanic star Billy Zane. While the movie is reported to be so bad that it's causing moviegoers to walk out of the theater, you'll have to stick around until the very end to catch Zane's cameo.
Written and directed by Etan Coen, the movie stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as Holmes and Watson, respectively, with a cast that also includes Hugh Laurie, Rebecca Hall and Ralph Fiennes. The movie has been panned by critics, and when Sony Pictures tried to sell it off to Netflix (which has something of a reputation for snapping up movies that seem doomed at the box office), the offer was turned down.

Still, some audience members seem to have enjoyed Holmes and Watson, and one of the biggest laughs comes from Billy Zane's surprise cameo. In the movie's climactic final act, Mrs. Hudson (Kelly Macdonald) tries to set off a bomb on the Titanic, and Watson saves both the day and the monarch by finding the bomb and throwing it overboard, onto Mrs. Hudson's boat. Of course, this plot doesn't actually make any sense, since Queen Victoria died in 1901 and the Titanic didn't set sail on its maiden voyage until 1912, but Holmes and Watson bets on its audience not worrying too much about such details. As Holmes and Watson are disembarking from the ship, they pass by Billy Zane and greet him (by name), though Billy is more interested in looking for the bar.
In Titanic, Zane played Cal Hockley, the dastardly fiancé of Kate Winslet's Rose. Despite serving as the movie's main antagonist, Cal managed to survive the sinking of the Titanic by grabbing a random lost little girl and scamming his way onto a lifeboat by pretending to be her father. On the bright side, Rose did manage to break off their engagement by changing her last name so that people would believe she drowned when the ship went down.
This isn't the first time that Zane has made a cameo appearance in a movie starring Will Ferrell. He also played himself in the 2001 comedy Zoolander, in which Ferrell played the villain, Mugatu, and returned in Zoolander 2. Zane's upcoming projects include the street racing TV show Curfew, in which he will star alongside Sean Bean and Adam Brody.
