While Hogwarts Legacy offers players a fresh take on the Scotland-based school through setting the game in a different time period, it's time for the school to be retired in favor of other institutions. Hogwarts is of course the most well-known wizarding school to fans, but it's by far the only one available. Another game set in the Harry Potter universe would do well to give Hogwarts a rest in favor of new territory.

The transfer students of Hogwarts Legacy have provided some insight into the other schools within the magical universe, and serve as a reminder of the other locations that dot the world. Fans of the Harry Potter series are at least cursorily familiar with some of these places, with students being brought in from other schools for the Triwizard Tournament. After so many years of everything being set at Hogwarts, this is why Hogwarts Legacy should be the final magical journey set at the Scotland academy.

Players Could Travel Elsewhere After Hogwarts Legacy

There's no shortage of other wizarding school locations players could be transported to after Hogwarts Legacy. All told there are 11 different magical schools scattered across the globe, and yet only one has really received any extended attention. Instead of continuing on with Hogwarts in different time periods, fans could explore somewhere entirely new, which would be a much more interesting experience overall.

Possibilities For A Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Are Endless

While the iconic locations of Hogwarts Legacy are no doubt a draw for many fans who want to explore the world they know and love, discovering a brand-new one could arguably feel more rewarding. Of the 11 schools stated by J.K. Rowling to exist, only eight have been named, which are located throughout most major continents. This includes schools in France, Brazil, Scandinavia, the United States, Russia, Japan, and Uganda. Each of these locations could offer brand new narrative opportunities, lore, and characters that would be much more engaging than yet another return to Hogwarts.

It's not that Hogwarts as a location is inherently uninteresting - it's simply played out in terms of a setting. This is especially true once the large differences between some of the wizarding schools are examined, as many seem to offer a completely different experience than the one provided in Hogwarts Legacy. For example, the process of choosing a house in Hogwarts Legacy is something that's incredibly familiar to most already, with a nearly endless supply of online quizzes that answer that question. However, each school has its own set of houses which players know little to nothing about.

Just as Hogwarts has had a storied history of students, staff, scandals, and triumphs, so has every other school in the wizarding universe. It's a shame that these stories have for the most part never been explored, and selecting a new school to be the setting of a Hogwarts Legacy sequel would be a great way to remedy this. While Hogwarts Legacy has in a way allowed players to carve their own path within the magical universe by having an earlier setting, an entirely new school could achieve this even better.
