Natsai Onai, Transfer Student

Hogwarts Legacy companion Natsai Onai, a Gryffindor student, in front of a blue background.

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise as a whole are probably aware that Hogwarts isn't the only wizarding school in the world. The Harry Potter books and films featured quite a few students from the Durmstrang Institute and Beauxbatons Academy, for example. While it's unlikely that players will be allowed to explore these other schools, although Hogwarts Legacy will explore locations the movies skipped, references to them can still be found throughout the game. One notable example is the character of Natsai Onai, a transfer student moving to Scotland from Matabeleland, Africa.

A Gryffindor student, Natsai is described as being quick-witted and justice-driven. Her intelligence can aid her in adjusting to Hogwarts following her transfer from Uagadou, the largest wizarding school in the world of Harry Potter. It will potentially also make her a helpful companion to have throughout the story of Hogwarts Legacy. Developers have indicated that there are plenty of secrets to discover around the castle, and befriending Natsai could lead to finding a fair amount of them.

Slytherin Companion Sebastian Sallow

Hogwarts Legacy's Slytherin companion, Sebastian Sallow, in front of a blue background.

When Sebastian Sallow was first revealed as a companion, many feared that he was an indication that Hogwarts Legacy would continue stereotyping Slytherins. He was presented as a troublemaker, skirting around the Hogwarts rules and dabbling in the Dark Arts. His biography on Twitter reveals more about his background, however. Players will more than likely have the ability to help him throughout his storyline, as every companion may have unique quests to offer.

Sebastian is a twin, and his sister suffers from a curse with no cure. His ventures into the Dark Arts are actually an attempt to cure her. Furthermore, he's only described as charming and extroverted. It seems reasonable to believe that any trouble he gets into is well-intentioned, though it's too early to say with certainty. Fortunately, Harry Potter book readers will hopefully have more chances to learn about him and the other new Hogwarts Legacy characters as the game's release date approaches.

Professor Fig, The Player's Mentor

Hogwarts Legacy's Professor Fig looks at the player character, mid-conversation.

Known as an enigmatic but accomplished wizard, Hogwarts Legacy's Professor Eleazar Fig works at Hogwarts during the player's time there. Although it isn't yet known what subject he teaches, it is clear that he'll play a major role in the game's overarching story. Professor Fig is actively seeking to investigate rumors regarding Ranrok's goblin rebellion, which seems to be the primary conflict of Hogwarts Legacy. All the while, he seems to be mentoring the player character to hone and understand their ability to wield ancient magic, a major gameplay mechanic as well as a key part of the narrative.

Additionally, there are a few other companions and adversaries that have been featured in trailers and press releases, which players can expect to encounter despite not knowing much about them just yet. Given how vast the game is, it's hard to say just how many NPCs will be encountered. Many have only gotten brief moments in the spotlight thus far, like Hogwarts Legacy's Death Eater-related villain. Although more are anticipated to be revealed, players can already look into a list of every named character featured in Hogwarts Legacy news to date:

The Sorting Hat

The most recent Hogwarts Legacy news from Warner Bros. Games revealed that Simon Pegg would be playing Headmaster Black, an ancestor of Sirius and Bellatrix. Headmaster Black's portrait played a key role in the last Harry Potter book, and Hogwarts Legacy also released a trailer detailing Phineas Blacks' legacy via the Wizarding World on YouTube:

On top of Peeves, Nearly Headless Nick, Professor Binns, and The Sorting Hat, it's probable that additional characters from the Harry Potter books and movies will show up throughout the game. However, given how early in the timeline Hogwarts Legacy is set, they're likely to have only been mentioned in the franchise previously.

Many fans have speculated correctly Hogwarts Legacy includes wizarding families like the Weasleys, so there's no telling who else may appear. Even if the cast of characters in Hogwarts Legacy doesn't have much to do with the original novels, though, Harry Potter fans will at least get to explore iconic events and locations as they venture through the game.
