Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG that is set to take place many years before the events in the Harry Potter series. In the game, fans will create a character and play as a Hogwarts student. The player begins their journey in their fifth year and will be able to choose which of the four main houses (Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin) they are placed in. This is an integral part for Harry Potter fans, as many are attached to the house they identify with and their choice in-game will likely have an effect on the gameplay. Players will be able to take classes, learn spells, and also supposedly explore much more than just the Hogwarts grounds and common surrounding areas. Hogwarts Legacy will be an entirely different story from what Harry Potter fans know and will hopefully be an exciting adventure for anyone who is a fan of the series.
MalikFala7i took to the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit to ask what everyone thought would be the best way for the game to implement fast travel, assuming it includes the feature at all. Their suggestion involved Harry Potter mainstays Apparition and Portkeys as potential options for traversing the map. A few commenters mentioned that Apparating wasn't allowed on Hogwarts grounds, while others noted that it was a more advanced spell that might not be an option for players to use right away. One Reddit user thought that it would be interesting to see different methods used for different places. The example they gave was to have Apparition used for quick travel to dodge out of the way, have Floo Powder to travel through the castle to other fireplaces, and then to have Portkeys take players to places outside of Hogwarts. Most of the users agreed that if there is fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy it should take into account the player's current level and magical skill. That being said, there are many spells that Hogwarts Legacy likely won't include, and fast travel options may very well be included in this list.
Other users in the comments hoped the game would not have fast travel. Some argued that it removes the mystery and realism of the game by making it too easy to move from location to location. Others said that it would be unusual if they included Apparition and Portkeys as methods since they are more difficult to master and have a lot of restrictions surrounding them in the Harry Potter canon. There was a lot of mention of broom travel in the comments as well. Players are hopeful that the broom travel is so well done in the games that it is used as a method of transportation for long distances.
Regardless of the method of fast travel, Hogwarts Legacy fans are looking forward to seeing what this game has to offer.
