Hogwarts Legacy players have discovered a sad truth about the circumstances of Dumbledore's death by examining the school's layout. Although the setting may prevent appearances from popular characters from the mainline Harry Potter series, that hasn't prevented fans from learning new things about the series. The expansive world of Hogwarts Legacy contains many secrets, both about the game's new characters and the ones players were already familiar with.

A new article from UNILAD describes how fans have been analyzing the circumstances of Dumbledore's death. Although Dumbledore himself isn't in Hogwarts Legacy, the Astronomy Tower where he famously fell to his death, of course, is and its location reveals a sad truth.

Reddit user BuccellatiExplainsIt shared a diagram of Dumbledore's fall compared to the layout of the school, which demonstrates there was no way for the famous wizard to have fallen straight down - rather, they would've had to have bounced across multiple buildings during their descent.

Snape Casting The Killing Curse Towards Dumbledore

In both the Harry Potter movies and books, much is revealed over time about the circumstances surrounding Dumbledore's death, such as his agreement with Snape and the plot of the Death Eaters. However, his death itself - and particularly the trajectory of his fall - is not explored much. This diagram arguably paints an even more dramatic, sadder version of Dumbledore's demise, and although he wasn't alive to feel it, it was bound it be disturbing to any onlookers.

Hogwarts Legacy Players Have Dumbledore Death Theories

Several theories surrounding what Hogwarts Legacy implies about the Elder Wand owner's death have arisen, encompassing everything from magical architecture to weather. Canonically, the layout of Hogwarts does change over time, at least slightly. This could mean that at the time Dumbledore fell from the Astronomy Tower after being killed by Snape the location was different, and he easily fell straight to the ground. It's also possible the headmaster's body was moved by the wind on the way down, if it was a particularly blustery night.

Dumbledore's death is undeniably one of the biggest moments in the Harry Potter series, and it makes sense that Hogwarts Legacy players sought out the location of the tragic event in-game to garner any new information possible. Hogwarts Legacy is set in 1890, meaning that Dumbledore is only nine when the game begins. Although he's not in the game, revisiting the location of his eventual fate at a time the character is so young is both quite interesting and deeply melancholic.

This Dumbledore death detail is one of many new things Harry Potter fans have been able to learn from Hogwarts Legacy. From providing more historical context regarding big events in the wizarding world, like the Goblin Rebellion, to the game featuring a Weasley relative, the title is a treasure trove of lore for players to explore. It's only been a week since Hogwarts Legacy released, and there's no telling what secrets players will discover next as more begin to dive into the game.
