Although one of the biggest titles of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy's game director Alan Tew recently said that there are no DLCs planned for it at this time. The open-world game is quickly becoming one of the best-selling video games of the year and possibly beyond, which makes this announcement come as a bit of a surprise. Hogwarts Legacy already offers players a lot of high-quality content to keep them entertained though, and the possibility for future DLC is not entirely removed from the table.

Many disappointed fans previously thought that a DLC or expansion for Hogwarts Legacy that could include Quidditch was secretly being developed and would be added soon. While this is not happening yet, the game is still very new having just been released earlier this month and perhaps that project could be picked up at a later date. Right now, though, the news that Hogwarts Legacy DLC isn't happening is actually a good thing.

Hogwarts Legacy DLC May Happen, But The Current Focus Is On The Base Game

The Field guide in Hogwarts Legacy

During IGN Fan Fest, the game director for Hogwarts Legacy, Alan Tew, essentially said that there are no expansions or DLC planned because of how much they have had to do in perfecting the main game.

"We've been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life, so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC." Alan Tew

The language used does not rule out possibilities for future Hogwarts Legacy DLC but makes it clear that the team is focused on perfecting the base game before adding any additional content. Hogwarts Legacy created a living wizarding world for players to experience firsthand, which was a monumental task and there is still more to do.

Devs Can Focus On Hogwarts Legacy Bug Fixes & Additional Releases First

Hogwarts Legacy has already been released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S; however, the game is still being worked on for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This means that in addition to fixing bugs and offering support for the released versions, teams are still working hard on the other console editions. Perhaps once these are completed, then additional content can start being created, but it is admirable of the developers to put their focus first on Hogwarts Legacy's base game and ensure it is of the highest quality it can be.

It may be a disappointment to hear that Hogwarts Legacy DLC or expansions aren't currently in development; however, overall this is a good sign for the game. There are already many things to do after beating Hogwarts Legacy and letting the developers focus on cleaning up any bugs and issues as well as finishing the additional console versions is a sign that they are truly trying to make a good game rather than just going after more money. There is still a good possibility that due to its success, Hogwarts Legacy will have more content in the future, so there's no need to rush things.
