Leading up to the release of the Pokémon: Sword & Shield Crown Tundra DLC, trainers have the opportunity to redeem different Ash Cap Pikachus, and the Hoenn Ash Cap Pikachu has become available for a limited time. The Crown Tundra DLC will arrive on October 22, and trainers have from now until late November to claim their free hat-wearing companions.

Ash Cap Pikachus are special Pokémon that first appeared in the mainline 3DS Pokémon titles. Pikachu is the mascot for the Pokémon franchise and is the first pocket monster that trainer Ash Ketchum acquires on his journey to becoming the Pokémon Master. With each new region that Ash visits in the TV show, he dons a new hat to represent that region. Ash Cap Pikachus are versions of the iconic yellow mon that wear Ash's different caps depending on which Pikachu the player receives.

The Pokémon Company announced today that a new Ash Cap Pikachu is available for players to receive via a Mystery Gift in Pokémon: Sword & Shield. A Pikachu wearing Ash's Hoenn Cap can be downloaded and added to the player's team. Like the two Ash Cap Pikachus prior, players will need to use a specific code in-game to obtain the Hoenn Cap Pikachu. The code for Hoenn Cap Pikachu is "P1KAADVANCE" and it will only be valid until November 30 a6 6:59 pst.

So far, trainers can obtain three different Ash Cap Pikachus: Original Cap, Partner Cap, and Hoenn Cap. To receive the Original Cap Pikachu players can use the code "P1KACHUGET", and the Partner Cap Pikachu can be obtained using the code "1CH00SEY0U." Players do not need to have purchased the Pokémon: Sword & Shield expansion pass to download these Pikachus, but each download code is only valid until November 30. As the days count down to The Crown Tundra's release, more Ash Cap Pikachus will become available for trainers to download.

This is a great way for Pokémon to celebrate the upcoming DLC as there was no way to obtain any of the Ash Cap Pikachus in Pokémon: Sword & Shield prior to these codes. Making them a limited release also gives each Ash Cap Pikachu more value as they won't be obtainable after November. However, trainers have more than enough time to snag these unique Pokémon even after The Crown Tundra DLC is released, so trainers who own a copy of Pokémon: Sword & Shield have no excuse for missing out on the free Ash Cap Pikachus.
