It has been revealed that Hocus Pocus 2 will feature flashbacks to the villainous Sanderson Sisters as kids, showing the witchy ways of their childhood - making the Sanderson Sisters even worse in the process. Hocus Pocus 2 may be coming out 29 years after the original Hocus Pocus, but that doesn't mean it isn't adding a lot to the franchise, as showing the Sanderson Sisters as children reveals a lot about the series' lore. While the Sanderson Sisters may have been evil in the first film, Hocus Pocus 2 is making them even more villainous.

Hocus Pocus 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the fan-favorite Halloween flick, with the film bringing back all three of the original Sanderson Sisters; Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy). While many story details are still tightly under wraps, it is known that Hocus Pocus 2 will see the Sanderson Sisters once again take on a group of young kids that accidentally conjured them, this time being high-schoolers Becca, Cassie, and Izzy. While the Sanderson Sisters were defeated at the end of 1993's Hocus Pocus, their return in Hocus Pocus 2 will finally pay off the film's ending tease all these years later.

In the original Hocus Pocus, the sisters use the life force of a child in order to stay young before they are discovered by the town's angry mob. Before they are executed in 1693, though, Winifred casts a spell that causes her to get resurrected in 1993, setting up the events of Hocus Pocus. Once there, in order to survive, the Sanderson Sisters once again must drain a child's life force in order to live. While draining the life force of two kids is bad enough, the first Hocus Pocus never touches on how many other children have experienced the same fate. While it isn't known when the young Sanderson Sister scenes take place in Hocus Pocus 2, the film has confirmed that these young witches still perform magic, implying that they have been draining the kids' life forces since long before they were caught in 1693. Simply confirming that Hocus Pocus 2 will have flashbacks to the young Sanderson Sisters implies that these witches are even worse than viewers originally thought.

How Will The Sanderson Sisters As Kids Fit Into Hocus Pocus 2's Story?

Hocus Pocus 2 will be very different from the original, but much of the film's plot is still unknown. Because of this, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly how the Sanderson Sisters as kids will fit into the film's story. However, there are some theories. The Sanderson Sisters' original revival curse failed, meaning that Hocus Pocus 2 will have to come up with an explanation as to why they are back. Presumably, flashbacks to the sisters as kids will explain this seeming plot hole, as it would allow this scene to perfectly fit into the lore of Hocus Pocus.

There's a lot to be excited for in Hocus Pocus 2, and seeing the Sanderson Sisters as kids is only one of many things that the film has to offer. Seeing the Sanderson Sisters return after all these years is undoubtedly thrilling, but new additions to the sequel's story will add to the character's history in a big way. By fitting the Sanderson Sisters as kids into the film, Hocus Pocus 2 makes its villains so much worse.
